Default Broken rod question?

My friend broke his rod on the deschutes this last weekend. The rod broke about 12 inches above the cork handle. The make of rod is NorthxNorthwest. He told me he bought it from Joes a few years ago. Is there any way he can get this rod replaced? The rod broke during a roll cast. Go Figure!!

Any help is much appreciated. Have a great week.

Greg

I would have to say no. that company was specifically designed for joes. and knowing as how they are out of buisness, i dont think so. the blanks for those rods were lamiglass, so you should call the company and see if they can replace it. or just buy a rod from a dependable brand.

the location for lamiglass is in woodland washington. not to far of a drive to the head quarters. allot cheaper of stuff over at the head quarters. would recomend getting a new rod over there.

Not all the North X Northwest rods were Lamiglass - if any were - that brand, the joes house brand - was made by a number of different makers, including Wright & McGill (Eagle Claw), Okuma, and WW Grigg.

A lot of their flyrods were Griggs. Your friend is probably SOL warranty wise - BUT if he is, he can get a similar rod for similar price from Fisherman's Marine or Wholesale Sports - both sell/sold Grigg rods. They run about $100.

My understanding was that WW Grigg made those rods as well. You may try calling Grigg, but the rod was a "house rod" warrantied by Joes. If Grigg did anything to help you out, you should be very appreciative. It's surely worth a phone call though.

I broke a tip on a 7 weight a few years ago. Same brand. I think I still have the butt section at my cabin. What did he have?
