Straydog, I'm sure they'll try the old pay us to build roads shtick as a way to make it profitable. You know the old corporate welfare routine. Given the terrain in that neck of the woods, road building would not be advised,you wouldn't want any naturally occuring landslides happening. This whole plan is doomed from the start. First thing that will happen is someone will challenge this in court. This act in itself will doom any chances of successful logging. The burned timber is only harvestable for 2-3yr.before it deteriorates to the point of nonprofitablity. The other reason and probably the most important is the fact we are seeing record low lumber prices,due in part to Canada flooding the market with DF. The area is so special and diverse,I'd hate to see it turned into a tree farm.
