Default Tetons/Yellowstone in a week!

Im stoked. Ive learned how to flyfish. Ive been catching pretty well here, just getting my skills up to go to the Tetons and Yellowstone to do some epic fishing up there, and my trip is coming up SOON.

Im excited, and I wanted to share it with you guys. Ill definately post pictures when I get back for sure.

Anyone got any words of wisdom, fly selection hints, stuff like that they wanna share with me regarding that area?

Im gonna be equipped with a 5 weight 8 foot 6 cabellas three forks rod with WF floating line.

Big foam hoppers and other terrestrials for the cutties especially....hoppers,beetles,ants,crickets etc.......
Watch the water temps, they can get hot in the summer there...

HAVE FUN

Yeah, it's hopper-dropper time. Fish early and late, naps around mid-day.

Tetons:Hoppers in foam or traditional, yellow belly, tan to lt brown above.
Ants work , rubber legs are good and are underrated.
Look for grassy banks, plop the hopper down with a splash, wait, wait, wait then a tiny twitch. Hoppers are big and hit the water hard.

Subsurface; muddlers/matukas/ bead head GRHE nymphs, Prince Nymph,
Classic Dry: Elk hair caddis in lt tan. /Cloudy days Blue Wing Olives,

Get away from the river access points. They're hammered every day.
Best bet hire a guide if that's in your pocketbook range.

Yellowstone; Firehole will likely be too warm, so fish other rivers. My favorites are the Yellowstone R, but again walk away from the crowd and access. Bring your bear spray, or best, bring someone slower than you.
If they're faster than you, spray them with the bear spray. That will level the playing field. Or spray yourself, then you won't care what the bear does.

We're on our way back home from the Tetons & Yellowstone right now' spending the night in Missoula.

Stop in and talk to Zach at Jack Dennis' fly shop. It's 1/2 block after the turnoff to Yellowstone in downtown Jackson Hole. I tried hooking up with him but missed him. They've got some nice fly shops in JH.

We went from JH up to West Yellowstone. The guys at Madison River Outfitters were really helpful.

You'll have a blast! A week is barely long enough. We even saw a pack of five wolves headed out for an evening hunt up by the Towers Junction. Way cool! Tons of bison and elk, a few pronghorns, and a single blackbear. Never did get into the grizzlies or the moose.
