Default Alarm Bypass on NR Commander

What is the alarm Bypass on these boats? There is a switch on the dash that says Alarm bypass for Oil pressure and Water temp. When not bypassed it is alarming out. This boat also has seperate water temp and oil pressure guages and they read in the normal range.

I would say it's for bypassing the alarm at start up, when there is no oil pressure. The light still sould come on though. If the engine is running and the alarm is not in the bypass postion and is sounding, then thats another issue. Gauges are not always accurate. I would first try to disconnect both terminals on the water and oil sensor and see if the alarm is still sounding. If it is you may have a wire grounding out. If it does stop sounding try connecting the sensors back up and try 1 at a time. Meaning try the oil sensor and if that starts the alarm, make note, then disconnect and then try the temp sensor. I have NR Command 2001 w/350 I have had it for about 8 month and 1 of the issues i had was a pluged oil sender. I hope this helps.

Ahhhh...my friend I am A former NR rigger and we had nothing but problems with Marine Power engines, but the powers that be felt there where okay because there where cheap motors. Most of the alarms are from the faulty sensors on the engine itself. I wish I could tell you how many times we would fight swapping out relays and such before delivering a inboard because alarms would go off for no reason. On the dock in Aurora the overheat alarms would go off within 2 minutes of firing the engine for the first time. NR/ Marine power use a fresh water "open circuit" cooling system so the water would 50 degree and still get an alarm within 1 minute. I would talk to Marine Power but I wouldn't hold my breather either. Sorry.
