Coke or Water?
This is really an eye opener.... Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.
WATER:
1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzz short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
And now for the properties of COKE:
1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.
4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.
9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
For Your Info:
1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in
osteoporosis.
2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.
3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!
So, what would you like. A glass of water or a glass of coke?

Re: Coke or Water?
I had a friend who worked at a Coke distribution plant and they used Fresca to clean the concrete floors. It was more potent than Coke he said and wasn't as popular.

  ...what`s water? I`m surprised I have any teeth left. How does the real thing compare to diet, which is what I drink.

Re: Coke or Water?
Boy I don't know if I agree with your facts. I drink a couple of gallons of water a day (ice water is my fav drink) and can't do math, the computer screen gets fuzzy and I find myself nodding off about 2pm, I can't do math and ...oh ya...my memory is shot.

Re: Coke or Water?
Same thing for Pepsi. There is no relief from these bad effects drinking diet versions (sorry DP). I have been told the acid is in there to keep the caramel coloring in suspension. Its been known to cause additional dehydration due to the body's need to dilute the phosphoric acid with any water available. Pregnant women especially should stay FAARRR away from the stuff in any quantity.
Part of the reason Pepsi attempted "Pepsi Clear" a while back I suppose. The colas with a twist of lemon are substituting citric acid for the phosphoric, it affects the taste so they change the labeling. But citric acid is tolerated better by the body.
Pepsi and Coke concentrate is shipped in plastic drums to local bottling plants with "CORROSIVE" Hazmat placards on them.
Scarey eh?

Re: Coke or Water?
You know what's even scarier? The acid inside the average human stomach has a pH of 1, and is the strongest acid known. Yet, we tolerate it just fine.
Perhaps we need to all have CORROSIVE tatoos on our bellies?

Re: Coke or Water?
About the water part of the message, absolutely, 100% agree. I have hit fatigue so hard in the afternoons at times that I think there's just no way I can go from Job A (marketing) to Job B (parenting). Guzzle a liter bottle of water and shazam! Mom bounces back.
It is the number 1 piece of advice I give when told about an "ailment." Drink water!

Re: Coke or Water?
I got dehydrated at work in hot weather and ended up having surgery in my Uretha
because of Coke. Crystals form in the Urin and cause blockage. It was painful, worse than kidney
stones. Don't drink anything with carbonate if you think you may be dehydrated. Catheder from hell not to mention blood all over my shorts.

Re: Coke or Water?
I marinate my elk steaks in coke, garlic, red wine, terriaki, worchester, black pepper.
The coke really makes the meat tender!

Re: Coke or Water?
Thanks, Cool Texan for the link. I thought this was a bunch of bunk as I tried the nail dissolving thing one time and nothing at all happened to it. Besides, lots of acids are used in meat marinades without dissolving the meat....

Re: Coke or Water?
Snopes has collected a bunch of Cokelore. It is funny what some people will believe. This one dispells most of the claims listed at the begining of the thread.
