Default Dorena Lake.....Tips WANTED!

Hi ya'll,

I have a club tournament this coming Saturday and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this lake and how to fish it. We will be fishing a day tournament and a night tournament. Appreciate all the info I can get.

Tight lines..

Is your tournament on Sat. day? How many boats are you guys going to have? We will have about 6 maybe 7.

I have never fished Dorena, so I'm not sure how big it is? Hopefully, there will be plenty of water and plenty of fish that day. I informed our club president and he just found out last Tuesday about the double up...so I think he is going to be contacting someone from your club to make sure we don't conflict with your weigh-in time. We will be doing a double header that day and going back out for night tourney since we will be camping there as well. Any tips on fishing Dorena at night??

Good luck day or night, it has been very tough. I caught one fish Saturday, 35ft+ on a dropshot. Several guys from our club have prefished Dorena 2 or 3 times in the last week and have yet to catch a keeper. These guys have many many years of experience on that lake. I will be happy if i catch 1 fish in 9hrs on Saturday!! The good news is if you do catch a keeper there is a good chance it will be a nice fish. The fish I caught Saturday was 4lb 8oz, what a great fight from 35ft with a spinning rod, i thought i had an eight for a minute.

I fished there over the weekend and only a few small largemouth to show for it. I got one decent smallmouth. Mostly on spinnerbaits real slow.

I hope the bass are just being finiky right now and that they will turn on Sat. Either way...I would rather be fishing..catching nothing, than not fishing at all. A 4lb in 35ft...I can see why that felt like an 8 pounder. Sounds like fun. Anyways, good luck to you this weekend hope you do well.
