Default WA traffic laws

I was going to post this under the Cool Texan speeding ticket thread but I thought it would serve it's purpose better here. In Washington it is illegal to travel in the far left hand lane if there's three lanes and you're pulling a trailer. I thought when that law was implemented it was just for the commercial rigs untill I got pulled over. The trooper was real nice and just warned me (he didn't say anything about doing 80 mph or my boat trailer tags being expired). Trooper said that even a motorcycle with a trailer is a no no. Bottem line, if you haul your boat up to Kalama, stay out of the third lane.

I'm a washington resident, and know that this has been on the books for some time. Based on my own experience, feel free to use the left lane if needed, but then get out of it. I have never been ticketed, and have driven past cops while in the left lane several times. I was at or under the limit, and obviously passing. This has been true on 1-90 east to Ellensburg, and south to Portland.

But, if you think about it, isn't this what everybody should be doing, all the time?

Sounds like one of those "at the officer's discretion" kind of things. Probably depends on what you were doing in that lane when you were spotted, or whether Super Trooper had his donut fix that morning.
CA's law is worse. 55mph for any vehicle with a trailer, no matter what the speed limit is for everybody else. And they actually enforce it. That law alone is enough reason for me to scrap any plans for Shasta. :depressed:

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">That's what I have been saying all along. People need to stay the heck off of the phone while driving slow in the fast lane. SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT!!!!! Funny how people can read all the signs except that one.

I understand completely why people get road rage. If your passing fine, otherwise stay out of the fast lane. It is not for continuous driving. Yes, I tailgate people who don't follow the rules. If you are one of those people and don't like it, TOUGH. If you break check me, your are looking for road rage. Basically this means follow the rules of the road.
