oops...this 'l cost him millions not only with defense costs, but about $20 million a year in endorsements!

If hes guilty, I have no sympathy. Hes a role model to children, and the courts should make sure they do anything they can to make it clear that no matter who you are, when you break the law and victimize people, your sent to prison.

I hear DNA evidence is overwhelming.

Well, we will see if celebrity justice will prevail again. Most times they find a way to buy their way out.

Buy their way out? Little early for speculation, but she may be trying to BUY HER WAY IN, or rather BUY HER WAY OUT of a Hotel Job.

From what I have been reading this girl and her family are considered very credible. I never thought much of Kobe anyway and something like this doesn't suprise me in the least.

If he is indeed found guilty I feel he should receive a little harsher penalty than others not lighter because of his celebrity status.

Also if he is convicted the next question is how do we get Shaq out of the picture.

I feel so very sorry for Laker fans (NOT!!!)

He admitted to sleeping with her. But I don't think it was against her will. He has millions. He could easily find someone to willingly sleep with him.

And to say that he shoould be sentenced more severely because he is famous is ludicris.

I just feel sorry for his child.

I do agree with you that his celebrity should have no bearing on his sentence. We all complain about celebrities getting off with a slap on the hand. To harshen the punishment just because they're famous would be just as bad.
And I really, really hope he didn't do this!

I would have to say this is disappointing. Not because I'm a Lakers fan, which I certainly am not but because this is the failure of another wealthy young athelete to control himself.
If Kobe is found guilty then he will almost certainly, like Mike Tyson, do prison time.

The news reported the girl was hospitalized two months ago on a drug overdose. They went on to say this will help Kobe get off the hook. Sad. If he did it, he should face the music. If she's trying to make a quick fortune, I hope she gets the appropriate trip from the justice system.

As I'm sitting here reading all these posts, I think of 2 senarious.

Is this yet another ploy for the girl to get rich quick thing, And why would she go to his hotel by herself, if she was "Just going to say HI"? Personnally I think that something is whack, They had sex, then afterwards, she was probably like "That's not what I intended, oh wait, did he **** me?" Then talks to friends, and blam "You could make millions off of this and ruin someones life" I'm not in favor of Kobe, nor am I of the girl. But the circumstances are pretty bad, How easy is it for a girl to cry ****? Especially if there's money involved. I say if she did get *****, he should go to jail and she shouldn't get ANY money. and if he's found not-guilty then so be it. She's alreayd ruined his reputation.

Just how sad and pathetic is it, for both senarios. On one end of the spectrum, this chick has ruined his life, but now is a millionare, on the other end, one of the best athlete's right now in Basketball going to jail for ****.

why would someone rish sooo much talent, just for one night of sex? When he could have women lining up at the door at the drop of a hat?

PATHETIC!!!

Lets face it here. There are women that prey on all sorts of athletes. That's their fix. Score on all that they can. Groupies that enjoy a challenge.

This gal may not be a groupie but she may be an oppertunist as stated above. Now Kobe, he is garbage anyway. If he did do the alleged deed then he should pay.

Unfortuatly, the press and defense will assasinate the girls character (obviously had none to sleep with a married man) and make her the true villan. What a shame.

If he assaulted the young hotel clerk, he is garbage.
I guess the real argument is about what kind if garbage he really is.

Wow what a great guy!! He just bought his beautiful wife an 8 carat, 4 million dollar purple diamond. All is well again. What a couple of schmucks. Now she can look at her finger every time she puts that ring on and remember how and why she received it. Goes to show you what an idiot Kobe is and it really makes his wife look like an immature dope. She should take that ring and donate it to charity. Then and only then would Kobe realize that his latest trist really did cost him 4 million bucks. Too many idiots with money in this country, makes me sick.

Can someone explain to me how the girl who claimed she was ***** is due to benefit monetarily from this? My understanding was that this was a criminal trial. The charges were brought on by the County's(can't think of the name) District Attorneys Office. Isn't it a Kobe Bryant v.s. the State of Colorado deal? Even if the girl didn't want to press charges, it's not her choice now. Last time I checked, you don't get awarded money from a criminal case.

Typically, if a woman wants to cash in on an Athlete, they get pregnant with thier child. And therefore child support kicks in, free money. There is a person on each NBA teams staff to handle illegitimate children, and the checks that get paid because of them. Trust me, I know one.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">It will be much easier for her to win or settle a civil suit after a criminal conviction of Bryant. Not to mention there's plenty of newspapers, magazines and tabloid TV shows that would pay big $$ for an interview or exclusive rights to her story.

And then five of her friends claim she was enjoying herself at a party three days before charges were filed. She was drinking and bragging about the encounter and about the the dimensions of Kobe's anatomy.

Let's see here. I am a hotel clerk (or whatever career-building job she had) and I don't think I like that. I know, I'll seduce the first multi-millionaire idiot that comes along (Lord knows that won't take long) and then claim ****. Then all I have to do is hire a lawyer (I have all the money I need socked away for that), accept humiliation from thousands (if not millions) of people (I'm a big girl, I can handle that). Have my entire life spread out on the evening news and better yet??? on some mentally stimulating sports-talk show, and THEN a few years down the road, (after he is convicted, because you know all sport "heroes" are always convicted) I'll hire another lawyer (I saved up for this one) and win millions in damages. Right. And what color is the sky in your world?
If he is a low-life adulterer who preys on emotionally unstable girls, he deserves to go down big time. If she is a low-life adulterer who preys on big, bad sports heroes, she deserves to go down big time.
I think I'll wait until the dust settles to make up my mind. And it will NOT be based on how the "media" depicts it has happened.

Kaitlin Faber didn't report the so-called crime until 14 hours after the act. She told her mom she had had sex with Kobe...."Oh honey you really didn't mean to do it with a black man,Did you?"
Then she went to the police and cried **** ****.
Give me a break. Oh yeah Kaitlin probably gave her 2 recent suicide attempts a lot of advance thinking also....

Uh, if Kobe had kept his pants zipped none of this would be an issue. He's married, he fooled around, and he put himself in compromising position by being there at all. Only two people will ever really no whether he assaulted her or not, but he should have been smart enough to not put himself there at all.

I'd say that Kobe needs to look very carefully at who he has for a posse (or crew or whatever they're called). If the members of the Posse really have Kobe's interest at heart, they'd NEVER let a 19-year old into Kobe's room @ 11:30 PM.

Kobe needs to 1.) Grow up--even if it's "just" adultery it is wrong, and 2.) Realize that he's a big, rich, famous, rich, handsome, rich target for golddiggers (not that this alleged victim necessarilly is one). He needs one or more professional bodyguards who do nothing at all for a living except keep these kinds of people at bay so they can't harm him and so he can't harm them.

I'm really not Mr argue about everything...nor am I a Laker fan, and I never said anyone was guilty or innocent. The charge could land this kid in the slammer for LIFE. Get real. I know Kobe broke his marriage vows but life in prison??? The reason I posted originaly is because all I saw was "the poor little kitten was ravaged by this savage". So I felt the need to pass on info I had heard to show both sides of the coin...
Oh well I'm all better now, Thanx

A guy doesn't need to go to jail for adultery. He does for sexual assault. Both are very very wrong though. The real point is that as a celebrity and an athlete, he is vulnerable to people taking advantage of him even if he didn't do it (which we don't know he did or didn't). He knows this. His father was a pro athlete. The book on Kobe was always how mature and professional he was. Bottom line is he should know better than to even be in this situation and put himself at risk of accusations, even if he didn't commit a criminal act.
