It sounds to me that that she has a good case against her former employer. She should call the Labor Board and see. They can give her free advice. As an employer who has never lost a labor dispute with an employee, I can tell you that if I wanted to lose a dispute, that's how I'd go about it. Pregnant women are in a protected class. They are required to make reasonable accomodations, and not to terminate anyone's employment because of pregnancy.

That sort of thing burns me up! I hope she lets them have it. She really ought to talk to the Labor Board. People can't be allowed to get away with stuff like that. How many more people will they do that to? Tell her to go after them!

ponying up for her pregnancy is going to be a lot cheaper than paying up for the lawsuit she can easily win over this. one well worded letter from a competent attorney should have her back to work in no time.

perhaps her employer should take some time to read over this site and maybe reconsider their decision:

I agree with the others here. She needs to go after them. Termination due to her pregnancy is outright discrimination and illegal.

This is discrimination. Her employeer can not get rid of her due to child birth. If this is the reason she was given and it is documented she needs to contact the former employeer for a copy of her personel file or if she was lucky enough to get that prior to leaving she can take that to an attorney.

Three years ago my wife was let go from her job of six years because she was pregnant, along with 4 other girls which were systematically discharged over a period of six months because they were pregnant too. Got absolutely no where with the EEOC and BOLI. Good luck. Hope she finds a new job soon, I know what she is going through.
