Default Mariner suspension seat on 21' seahawk

is Busted

Was out Tuna fishing last Friday and Saturday...coming off a wave we all heard a big nasty sound, and the seat stopped working, and looked 'bent'. Pulled it off the boat, and sure enough it is bent. And yes, it is out of warranty. This was the passenger seat, luckily

Anyone seen this before?

Anyone know where to get the dang thing fixed?

I looked them up on the web site (from Seats, Inc. )

Sigh....

Maybe a truck wrecking yard- Or Bentleys sells them new- you can use your upholstery and save some $. Hang on to you wallet, they are not cheap.

Hey Rich,

Let em know what you find.
My boat does not have the suspension seats and after two days out at the rock pile last weekend my back is aching!
Thanks,
Orville

Is it the 'scissor action' arms that got damaged? Or some other part?

Orville,
If you decide to buy suspension seats I am looking for some used NR seats on boxes.

Mike

I was wondering about putting a suspension apparatus under my Alumaweld box seats. Do you have a link for Bentleys?, or other suppliers other than boat dealers.
Thanks

Turns out Maxxum Marine down in Eugene had a couple of chassis for the seats, one standard, one 'heavy duty'. I went for the heavy duty. Upon inspection, the differnce between the two is not a whole lot. The heavy duty one has two shocks supporting the back of the seat, and heavier steel in a spot or two. Also has a steel strap latterally between the seat chassy and the rack for moving the seat forward/back. The springs all look the same to me. The extra shock really seems to make it a lot stiffer. Now I want one for my driver seat

As a former NR rigger I can tell you the seat bases you are looking for are nothing more than cheap heavy-duty truck seat bases. A quick google search and you can find them no problems,

If I ever have a boat built I would consider some of these or the ones with the seats mounted if I needed both.

One thing you forgot to add about truck seat bases. They take air to operate.
Not a big deal via a 12V compressor.
