Isnt it always the case....
The people selling used cars that you want offer no special perks. The people who have cars that you dont want will offer low low low financing. D'oh!!
Wife and I need to ditch her 2 door for a 4 door...no great deals to be had on the cars we like. We can find 1.9% for one of the cars we like, but its a little small. The car that she really wants is only offering 4.5% as their lowest, with 3.99% at our credit union.
Dont worry, I looked at Doherty Fords site...they dont have anything we're interested in.
Anyway...just venting.

It's more challenging to sell you what you don't want!
I especially love it when you've done the research, and you know what you want, and
"We're looking for a Honda Accord."
"How about this Plymouth Horizon?"

Re: Isnt it always the case....
Yup...it would seem that I finally knocked her up. Which means a beautiful thing will happen in the near future...the "booby fairy" will be visiting our house!! Hey, if TFG can say "hot freaking damn", I should be able to say booby.
We know a few different used cars we like.... BMW 328 or 330...the Lexus GS300...or even better the 400. Maybe a Passat, maybe a C-class (havent driven one yet).
Rasmussen had 1.9% offered on some cars...but now claim they have sold all the ones we like. So we'll see. We have a few months to figure it out.

CT, yeah, but ... oh never mind, you'll find out ... a lot of things.
CONGRATULATIONS! We'll expect ongoing progress reports.
ohhhhh, rich guy cars! Shouldn't you get a Kia and put all that cash in the college fund? If the Passat is assembled in Mexico, I'd pass. (Based on my Jetta)

Re: Isnt it always the case....
Good choices on the possible cars, CT. You pay more at purchase, but they're still worth something a few years down the road. Not to mention they're just plain nice rides, and in the upper end of the spectrum as far as reliability, which is important.
I wish I was in the market. :depressed:
I'm kinda surprised an upscale dealer like Rasmussen would resort to typical car lot tactics, but I guess they have to run a business like everyone else.
One benefit of a crappy economy is people trying to get out from under their high $$ car payments. Lots of low-mile rigs out there, if you're in a position to take advantage.

Re: Isnt it always the case....
Consumer Reports issued their "reliability" report for 1997-2002 (I think those were the years)
Lexus, Infinity, BMW, Porsche, Honda, up at the top after 3 years of ownership for lowest number of repairs.
Mercedes, Volkswagen, Volvo right there at the bottom with Kia and Hyundai for most repairs in three years.
Think this information was in Saturday's Oregonian in the DriveTime section.

CT-
If you're going to be selling some of your fishing stuff to make room for that little bouncing bambino, let me know. Don't think so, eh? Oh, you will... Heh, heh, heh...
Congrats, by the way!

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helvetica">Mercedes? Wow. I don't find VW and Volvo surprising, though.

Re: Isnt it always the case....
Being the heathen that I am, I don't wander into the Angler's Chapel very often.
Congrats to you and yours, CT.
Is your wife from these parts? Undiluted Lone Star genes are of some concern to us Oregonian types.
Is there an ifish baby shower in our future?
Back to your post, 3.99% doesn't sound bad. Well, compared to 1.9% it does.
A few years ago anything under 10% was good.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Actually, it's kind of unusual for car shoppers to know exactly what they want. I've always known what I wanted, right down to every nut and bolt, but I'm a former car geek. And it is very annoying to to have a salesperson try to show you a rig that's been collecting dust on their lot.
