Jailblazers keeping it real
Damon's been arrested on drug charges again.
So, will this put him on the trading blocks now that the Ganja Blazers are trying to clean up their public image?

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
What do you suppose the results would be if they pulled an unannounced urine test on the whole NBA??
Here's one to ponder: What do you suppose the results would be if they pulled an unannounced urine test on the entire Congress and Judicial branches?? I would pay to see those results! Problem is that Congress would say that the idea was an outrage and a violation of their constitutional rights and refuse to be tested!

Come on guys, let's wait until he is actually convicted before passing judgement. You know, his dad may have accidently dropped it into his bags and he was merely trying to return to him...

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Ya know, my initial reaction is amusement when I hear about these incidents, mainly because I recall my many misadventures and indiscretions of my youth. And yeah, so what, it's only weed.
But then I think, "This guy is getting paid an 8-figure salary for only working 7 months a year. He makes as much for 2 quarters of basketball as I do busting my butt in a year of 12 hour days. And by federal law I'm subject to both random and for-cause drug testing. Something ain't right here. I stay clean for a lot less incentive than he has."
And then it's not so funny.
If the dude wants to smoke a little bud on the road, fine. But for crying out loud, he should buy or lease his own plane so he doesn't have to deal with airport security and risk an embarrassing incident. It's not like he can't afford it. One thing he can't afford is more dumb-arse stunts like this.
How hard can it be to keep a low profile?

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Some of the smartest people I've ever known indulged in weed now and then. And some of the dumbest people I've met wouldn't dream of trying it. I don't think weed has anything to do with smart and stupid. I've even met a few people who didn't understand why anyone would ever want to go fishing. I think some people are just smarter than others.

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Bring Professional Basketball to Portland
There needs to be a professionalism clause in all of their contracts. One arrest/drug violation/assault/etc... and their contract is null and void. No bonus. No pay out. No walking money. Just good bye!
It is time we brought Professional Basketball to Portland!

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Will another NBA team please make an offer to Damon? He comes with his own sign "Will play for weed". Send the idiot packing (no appology for the name calling here since evidence supports the mental capacity) . No wonder he never gets endorsements. How blantant and bold faced can a person get?

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">A statement which has as much logical validity as "Not smoking pot makes you commit errors in logical reasoning." Such as your persistent commission of a type of logical error known as Post hoc, ergo propter hoc" or "after the fact, therefore because of the fact". Kinda like saying that Bush was elected, the economy went in the toilet, therefore, Bush's election caused the economy to go in the toilet.
Perhaps a more relevant question is, what effect has his pot smoking had on his playing? I can't say that I follow basketball, but it seems like he's been earning his keep, or he would have been bounced from the team by now, if you'll pardon the pun.

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Was glad to see that the New team Pres. Imediately Fined and suspended him. It is a start, I didn't see the press conference but my neighbor said that when the President of the team was asked if he was going to trade hime his reply was "make me an offer". We could only be so lucky to start getting rid of some of these idiots.

....dduuuuudeee.....where's my Reynolds Wrap???
Did anyone really expect anything else from this guy? I have yet to see a photo or video of him when he DOESN'T look baked. And now, I actually believe he probably IS always baked.
...And Silver Hilton, he's not still with the team because he's "pulling his weight". He hasn't ever done that in Portland. He's here because Whitsitt agreed to pay him way more than he's worth for way longer a term than he deserves, and between being overpaid and this kind of crap popping up every few months, he is completely unmarketable (rightfully so) to any other team in the league. Heck, if you had a job that paid you that kind of money to sit around and do nothing, why not? The guys got a heck of an agent, I'll say that....must have hired him in between hits.....

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Tilla....are you a Portland Winter Hawk fan. I've been going to Hawk games since they first came to Portland in 1976. I was 10yrs old and played hockey for PAHA. I've watched the Hawks win 2 Memorial Cups. Needless to say im a die hard fan. I wish this city would wake and realize that they have one of the best jr hockey teams in the WHL. By the way...screw the Blazers. When they traded Drexler and got rid of schonley they lost all of my respect. The team now is nothing but a gang of thugs. Go Hawks Go.

Re: Jailblazers keeping it real
Why would the Blazers have to give $25 mil to Damon to void his contract, then turn around and give the NBA another $25 mil? Sounds kind of stupid to me.
