Fish_on,

I think you mean legalize and tax pot, the question doesn't make the tax revenue part clear.

Fish_on,

I get the drift but others not following the other thread might not. I think you'd get more Yes's if it was clear that legalize and tax was the choice.

Don't get your hopes up. Overall public will likely never go for it. The issue has been demonized by the right wing fringe that it is a political no-win for legislators.

I bet one of my pot head college buddies $10 that pot wouldn't be legal 10 years after we got out of school.

He finally paid up...time means nothing to those folks <grin>.

BL,
My friends and me tend to be a bit to the right of center politicaly and most of us support legalization and taxation of marijuana. Most polititions (Left and Right) want to keep it illegal so there income sources don't dry up

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Not really accurate. The "drug war" has been mostly a right wing (not to be confused with conservatives like McCain, Buckley, Goldwater) fantasy.

You can accuse the Democratic and moderate Republican politicians of not standing up on the issue (a no win for them) but it is the Republican right wing that makes pot an issue.

Pot laws have always been one of the key "soft on crime" strategies of the Republican right wing.

You can look at the recent "red meat" statements by the leaders of the Republican right wing regarding Canada's decision to decriminalize pot...get ready for "Freedom Bacon".

You may remember one of the leading Republican "moralists" and "Drug Czar" William Bennett...the guy with the severe gambling problem. He epitomizes the Republican right wing's political hypocrisy on the issue of pot.
