First time on a fly rod and caught 7 fish!!!!
I always wanted to try the "art" of flyfishing. So the past two months little by little been putting together a descent flyrod setup and learned to tie my own flys(which is a sport in itself). Got a twitch on the way home from work and stop by Wallace Park in Salem. Found a empty field to practice the "ten and two" movement for about a half hour. Decided that was enough and put a new tippet on and went into the water. Put on my #14 black knat and started the majestic wave of the flyrod. Within the hour I had a fish on. It was a four inch pikeminnow. I was laughing so hard that the guy next to me must of thought I lost my mind. So i check my rig and back at it again. Started to learn my own technique of casting and got really comfortable in my ways. Even though the ******** in their speedboats made wakes that you could probably surf off of. But it didn't let me down, I wanted more fish. I was there for a total of six hours. And caught seven pikeminnows on just the one black knat. Didn't get caught on anything and didn't lose any tackle. The fishing gods were looking out for me today. I was told that you first couple of times out you will lose tackle or patience.....or both...
I am now a firm believer that if they don't wanna bite on any of my other rods, I will ALWAYS have my flyrod to make up the difference. I just wanted to post this because I can't fall asleep, and I am going back tomorrow morning before the woman wakes up and see if my luck changes. I'll keep you all posted. Till then.....

This is bad...
Right before winter steelhead starts, we'll see this entry in the classifieds...
"914 corkies, mostly pink pearl, orange scale and rocket red with a few oddballs. Sizes 8, 10, and 12. First $30.00 takes them all.
8 1/2 lbs slinkies, 4 shot on up to 12 shot. $25.00 firm.
23 Size 5 Blue Fox spinners, 9 silver/orange, 6 silver/pink/ 5 gold/orange, 3 silver/blue. $30.00.
Also, what do people think about the difference in handling of Frog Hair fluorocarbon vs. Dream Cast? I've always been a Rio FluoroFlex guy, but the refractive index on the new Frog Hair sounds like it's a better match for...."
