Glow trebles...
Here they are: before and after! The red glows the most intense but has a short life. The green keeps on keeping on.

Re: Glow trebles...
Did you do those yourself or are they now available at a store near you? Pretty cool.

Re: Glow trebles...
Can you imagine what BOE could do with 35 or 40 gallons of this stuff? Even my (non-creative) head is spinning.
Cool stuff, FNF. Where do you get it?

Re: Glow trebles...
I ordered the super glow paint from Luremaking.com
It is a simple process to apply the paint. If you buy some, you need to get the clear coat powder paint to mix with the glow. A 1:1 ration works fine. The best hooks to coat are those that have a shiny finish. Black, gold or red hooks will work, but not as well as the shiny. Then it is a matter of holding the hook in a small propane torch for 2 seconds. A quick blow on the hooks to slightly cool then immerse into a premeasured amount of paint. By premeasured I mean the depth of the powder paint should be just below the barb. If it is too deep you will cover the barb and you don't want to do that.If you get the hooks to hot they will smoke the paint. Practive makes perfect.
Pull the hook out quickly and tap the hand holding the pliers against a bench, to knock off excess paint. After you have a pile of hooks you will need some ty wire to string them on, while they suspend over a cake pan. Do not let the hooks touch each other. Better line the cake pan with aluminum foil, in case you have too much buildup. That is why the quick in and out of the powdercoat paint is a must. You just want a even coat of paint. Put the cake pan into the oven which is preheated to 350. Only leave the hooks in the oven for 10 minutes. This hardens the paint. For those of you that think this weakens the hooks, you are wrong. We have not had a hook bend, due to a fish and plenty have been caught. I have used these style hooks for 3 years now. I have them on Mag Warts, wiggle warts, Kwikfish, hot shots, and even my walleye plugs. Practice with some chitty hooks before you use the good ones.

Re: Glow trebles...
Thanks for the info and instructions. I'm going to reread the regs in case there are instances where you can't use "glow in the dark" lures (seems I remember something about that), and then I'm going to have to try it.
The possibilities are endless.
Once again you're showing us the way....

Re: Glow trebles...
Hide this thread from BOE. We will soon see glow Cedar plugs with glow pink little tutu's.
We do need to give the guy credit, I do not know anybody actively looking for a better mouse trap. Roy will find it!

Re: Glow trebles...
Your getting real close now. I prefer soft plastic and the fish like it better than hard metal (for a while). The technology is out there start looking. Like the moniker says.

FNF,
Very cool. Do you "charge" them with a flash? How long do they glow?

Re: Glow trebles...
The reds only last about 5 minutes. The greens last 20-25 minutes.
