Default estacada lake?

OK..... so what does everyone know about estacada lake? I was thinking about heading up there.
last time I was out at mciver it was closed. do they close it during winter, or has it been closed for a long time and just reopened?

Hey Soulrider! My wife and I stumbled upon the entrance to it yesterday while hiking at McIver. We scoped it out and thought it would be a great place to take our canoe, so we returned today with the canoe, and we had a great time! I'll post a report with some pics once I pull them off the digital camera.

A great newly named place, what can I tell you? We hit it hard just after the opening ceremonies. Had one 15 hr period where 3 of us hooked over 150 trout from a boat.

Both Estacada Lake and Northfork Res. should be very good catching locations. The lakes will have been stocked 3 weeks in a row.

Northfork is receiving it's last stocking of the year with over 16,000 trout this week. If you find a large concentration of fish, throw lures. You may find 5-6 trout competing for your lure. I have had 40 fish days.

You may see me on the lake with my 22' pontoon boat. Fishing with bear LLC

Smile Estacada Lake Report

Here are some pics of our trip at Estacada Lake from this past Sunday. We took our canoe out there and found that it was a really nice lake.

Estacada Lake:

I had the hotter lure today. Paula kicked my butt at Simtustus, so I needed to redeem myself...

Paula mounted a comeback as the sun came out and kept it close!

I've got more pictures and more of a play-by-play on my blog.

Hey, I was there last Sunday as well. I had the black sled. We left about 1:30 -2pm as well due to my back problems. Anyway, we took 5 with us which I gave to the guy with me. This is my wife's and my favorite lake!

I'm pretty sure we saw you then! I think this is up there on new favorite places to take our canoe, too!

Is the new fishing platform handicapped only?

It is a handicap preference platform. Make way for anyone that may have a handicap.

Nice reports! Is the entrance still on the Estacada side of the river?

The Estacada side remains closed. I heard it will eventually reopen to motorless boats only. You must now enter through McIver Park and pay a day use fee, or buy the annual day use pass. A host is camped at the parknig lot so vehicles have remained pretty safe.

Thank You to Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation for this new area.

They did a good job of improving the lake access and the launch.

You should know that from the Hwy 211 bridge downstream to the dam is considered lake, while from the bridge upstream to the deadline is considered stream. Therefore, 2 fish is the limit above the bridge, while 5 fish is the limit below the bridge.

...and it's such a nice spot for access, plus the peace of mind for your vehicle, it's well worth the day use fee, in my opinion!
