I have a new Yamaha 225 hp - 4 stroke (70 hours now) and noticed it is down about a 1/4 from the top of the dip stick. I changed the oil at the 20 hr mark as recommended in the owners manual.
Curious if this is an issue or maybe this is normal?
A slight difference in the angle of the outboard can affect readings, too. If you filled it and checked it before you fired the engine up, it may read slightly lower as well, the oil filter may be holding some oil.
