Any recent Camas area Walleye reports?
I have been out 5 times over the years trying to figure this fishery out...and blanked every time. I want to learn it, either that or I love punishment, not sure which. I keep hearing how easy they are to catch and there are tons of them around. If that's the case (not doubting it is) then I clearly suck
At any rate, I'm thinking about taking the girls (wife and daughter) out and giving it another go tomorrow. Any reports, tips, gps coords, people willing to tie a fish on my line, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Take care
Chris

Re: Any recent Camas area Walleye reports?
A friend and I took our kids to the Columbia and trolled the WA shore both east and west of the 205 bridge, mostly very close to it in 12' to 20' of water. We pulled worm harnesses from 6:30 to 10:30 and we caught lots of smallmouth, pikeminnow and two brown trout, but no walleye. Trolled with the current as slow as we could and drug our walkers right along the bottom. Now, I've never fished OR/WA for walleye and my friend has fished them, but not in this area. So we don't have much experience to go on and we did not see a single other boat trying for walleye. Many boats anchored up for steelhead though.
Wrong place, wrong time or something.
Next weekend, tuna because I know how to catch them

I too would be surprised if Brown Trout were caught in the Lwr Columbia. IMO better chance they might have been Searun Cutthroats which have some coloration similarlities.

I wonder if those Brown Trout had teeth and spikes on their dorsal.....??
I've been out the last 2 weekends and have yet to find the buggers.

Re: Any recent Camas area Walleye reports?
Fished Multnomah falls area down thru Camas Friday and Sunday. One 14" walleye thrown back and a bunch of sculpin bait robbers. Didn't even hit one smally- usually most of the day is spent throwing back samllmouths. Tough fishing for me.

Nothing today after 2 hours of trying at Camas Reef.
Did get 2 nice eaters down river below 205.

Re: Any recent Camas area Walleye reports?
A friend and I were anchored up in the Columbia and he hooked a brown trout on a spinner this year...it was not a cuttthroat. As far as Walleye go...troll downstream next to structure...pillings...places that would have cover for an ambush ! I use a bottom bouncer and a 4ft leader...purple spin'n glo white wings on a worm harness. You don't have to be right on the bottom. Years ago I fished a day before the camas tourney and caught a 6lb Walleye, Yum !

This is from two years ago, but there ARE walleye, and big 'uns, near Camas. My neighbor (the ugly one in the photo) caught this whopper -- 16 lbs 15 oz -- north of Lady Island trolling UPSTREAM!

Re: Any recent Camas area Walleye reports?
Hey has anyone fished for walleye at night? I am just wondering if it might be better fishing for them during the dark hours.
