Default Messiest garage! WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Messiest garage and tackle area essay/pics!
Brought to you by your ifish sponsor, Rod and Reel Storage Ace!

Alright, ROD AND REEL STORAGE ACE:

is giving away a Storage Ace 12 to whomever wins their contest!

This contest is being judged by Sherrie of Rod and Reel, and her kids. She won't let her husband particpate in the judging, because his garage is really bad.

SO! We were first going to do a picture of the messiest garage, only, but then got to thinking about the many people who have trouble posting pics. So, how bout EITHER a picture, or a 'mental picture" of your garage, written in the most creative, humorous way you know how!!!

Tell us about tripping over things, about knocking reels off of rods. Convince us that you NEED this Storage Ace, and maybe even how it would solve a bunch of problems! Tell us where you would put it on the wall, and why!

This contest is meant to make us all laugh, as we march towards spring cleaning! Garages are usually nightmares! I can't wait to see some of yours!!!

So, here is what the winner will win:

Quote:
Straight from the Great Northwest, The Rod & Reel Storage Ace is built with you, the angler in mind. The Rod & Reel Storage Ace is designed for displaying all of your rods and reels efficiently in one convenient location. Each storage ace is *horizontally mounted to any garage wall and or ceiling joist, omitting dangerous hazards and objects from potentially damaging or destroying your valuable fishing gear.
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">These things are awesome! We have one!

Anyhow, the contest winner will be picked by Sherrie and her kids, by which one makes them laugh the most, or which one they like the best, period. It's for fun, so let's not get too technical, OK? Let's just have fun with this one!

Contest closes March 10th, 2004. Get your entry in and see if Sherrie picks you!

Rules:
1. One Entry per person
2. Pictures must be of your garage or tackle area. NOT your neighbors or friends!
3. Stories must be written yourself.
4. Sherrie has the right to pick whomever delights her most!
5. Pictures: Must be no more than 600 pixels wide, and restricted to two or three. Sometimes just one is best!
6. If you do pictures and text, you can use up to three pics if you wish.

Jen

Hey, at least all my rods are in the same area! I doubt this will be a winner (loser?). I usually keep the rods in their tubes and broken rods in this tub and rods strung for the current season up against my tackle bench.

SafetyChain - cover your eyes!!!

OK, I can really use the help here (as illustrated below). Every spring and fall, I clean up my garage to the point where you could eat off the floor. I should say that I do have a wife and four kids.

So, when I get my garage cleaned, and I have a couple square feet of floor space showing, this becomes "room in the garage" for anything the kids or wife decides to store out there.

Beyond that, I think the pics speak for themselves - we happen to be between fall and spring cleaning events.

The pic below is like a contest in itself - kind of a "Where's Waldo?" - See how many fishing items you can find in this pic.

Disclaimer: No fishing equipment was actually damaged or tortured in any of these scenes.

Mine is not so messy. But I thought I would share....

Sometimes I have to sleep out here........

I had to blur out the back area of this photo, as that is the super secret carrotmilk laboratory. Didn't want anyone getting any crazy ideas.

Here is the way I store my rods, all tied up and ready to go.

oh..... I could have won this easily 3 months ago. In December I started cleaning out my garage. It is 38' x 40' and had trails winding through everything. There was a small space carved out for my wife to park, but the rest was cluttered up badly. In fact, at one time I had a drift boat on a trailer, a 51 Willys Jeep, and a motorcycle on one side of the garage. I had people stand in front of the garage doors and NOT see the Jeep or motorcycle . It once took me 90 minutes to get the drift boat out of the garage to use. I have just over 30 hours involved in cleaning it so far. I have made 4 trips to the dump, and 2 too Goodwill. In the chaos, I have found a complete set of kitchen cabinets, a water heater, a toilet, 7 full sheets of 4x8 sheetrock, 30 pieces of 2x6x10' lumber, and a woodstove I didn't remember I had. I couldn't use one garage door for the last year because the door ran into stuff that was piled up to the ceiling (9.5' ceilings). Not all this craaa... stuff was mine. A lot of it belonged to my wife, who likes to "collect" things for a garage sale. Now, we have been planning this garage sale for 6 years and it has not happened yet. Unbeknownst to my better half, this accumulation of garage sale items has been reduced to a nice, tax deductible, pile of receipts . I hope to be done with my cleaning project by Memorial Day. I think I will buy one of these Storage Aces anyway. They look like a great way to store rods

What about a basement? Here are some rods, the others are in the boat. Some still have the tags on them. It is an asortment of lamiglas, L.C.I Loomis and Fenwick glass rods.

Here is some extra tackle.

And here are over 50 kwik fish the other 30 are in the boat.

It always seems ; you can never have too much gear. And if it's on sale you should buy it now You should have seen it two weeks ago  ....Ross

This is the result of fishing the weekend mornings and hurrying home to take the kids to a ball game or swim meet. Nothing ever seem to get put away correctly.

Now I'm shamed and the garage will be cleaned and organized in the morning. Pictures to follow.....MAYBE

OK! Finally! A contest I might win...
(I've been in Giz's garage and I'm still confident)...
Although I cannot accept the prize since I've got a remodeling advantage...still, will get my son over here to post pictures since I'm both garage and digitally challenged...
I did clean it once and told the kids I even vaccuumed the carpet...
"Get out! There's a carpet in there?"
I'll also see the garage, the office and raise you a dining room, a storage shed and a yard...and still have enough left for the final draw...
I will go find one of those roundy things, though...they look pretty cool. Actually, I'll need three of them...I think...will know more as soon as I find all my rods.

Hi fellow Ifishers!

This is Sherrie of 'Rod & Reel Storage Ace.' My kids and I wanted to say this is going to be a tough..And it is a relief to see most of you make my husbands garage look normal..
We knew this idea would start up everyone's creative juices,(Carrot milk included) as well hopefully energize a few of you to get out and get organized.
In closing, we just wanted to say we are pleased with the replies and pics, this far. Keep the pics and essays coming. Thank you all for joining in.

Alright, after a sleepless night of knowing I just put my garage on the net ( a few posts above ) and waking up totaly embarassed , I got up before the rest of the family and went to work. If the truth be known the river was muddy but the wife doesn't need to know that  .

Here is the after pictures of my garage after a couple of hours of organizing.

The result of all this was a treasure chest of goodies to sort through tonight. Kind of like santa dropping a present on the door step.

The real reason I did this was to make room for a new Rod and Reel Storage Ace.......hint hint.

It takes a lotta guts to post those pic's for the whole world to see!

And thanks again - now that my wife has seen these pictures, she's got no beef with me and our garage!

Good Luck contestants!!

First let me say that I would would be happy to send in a picture of my garage... except my camera is buried in it somewhere. However, Jennie did say descriptions are allowed, so we go. When you peer into my garage ( I say "peer" because the chance of returning from a visit to this monster if you are not intimately familiar with the unintended booby-traps and potential danger is lower than the chance that I will recover any of my duck hunting gear before next season) you will see that cammo really can serve a few purposes. First it is great for hiding you and your dog when you are out in the blind, secondly it is good for hiding and tangling up in every other piece of gear you own... when left out to "dry" too long. I currently have about 5000 square feet hanging from the corner of my boat/garage door runners/rafters. Although it does feel quite "homey" if you like cammo, it is brutal when you are trying to navigate the cluttered garage. The other day I had been out in the monster looking for a few tools, when I heard a whimper from the corner... it was my yellow lab who had been trapped for about an hour from a earlier encounter with the monster. From the sad look on his face, he wasn't too pleased with my decorating. Evidently when he was sniffing out the great smells that only hunting cammo can provide for a dog, it fell down on him... and he got tangled. I can hear all of you saying "Cammo... I've got cammo... no big deal". Except that my cammo is sitting on top of a years worth of remodeling supplies. I have recently remodeled my entire 1922 house, and it all those pieces that you "might need again" are now entangled with the cammo.

Side-note: I do have a boat... or at least I think I still do, but at this point I can't really see it. The springers are so safe right now... it's kinda depressing.

My poles are sorted ... ok I just lied... I'm sorry.. they are JUMBLED according to last use. When I use one... it goes on top ... so if I need to get at a rod that hasn't been used in a while, I have to move the cammo.. then the remodel supplies... then all the other poles...and hopefully uncover one that will work for the current trip.

As you can see my garage is a complete pit...here is my solemn vow and promise. If I win the organizers... I promise to store my rods, in the rod holder.. in my living room. I'm single so I don't have to clear this with anyone besides my dog... and he doesn't care as long as he doesn't have to go back in the garage.

Lost sailor's is good, but the density is artificial with that boat glombing up the space...I can do that without a boat...just as soon as I can find the camera

I was in the money on this one till last week. :depressed: I finally cleaned a path so I could at least walk (or hop_ through in nice full light. Still too scary to go out there at night! I did however discover that yes indeed, there really is a concrete floor down there.

Lost Sailor...is that a heat lamp in the first picture? Is that to keep the critters living in that pile warm at night?

Hi Everyone,

It's me Sherrie...of "Rod & Reel Storage Ace"...

Wow, we do have some contenders now and some REALLY messy garages out there...
Glad to see everyone participating. We love seeing all these pics.

By the way, I wanted to say that we are paying close attention here , and looking really closely at each and everyone of these garages /essays...and guess what I saw in one of the pics?
 " Jett'in Fool already has one of our "Rod & Reel Storage Aces" in his messy garage! (see it on the wall)
So...my son wants to know...why is your garage still a mess?
Just wanted to say, keep 'em coming guys/gals...there are 9 days left to this contest. And we are having such a blast seeing all of these.

Have a great day!
Sherrie

Hundred of millions of dollars with of research for genetics, cancer treatment... and then there's good ole Pearl holdin out on us. A fresh box of unused DNA sitting in a junk pile. Jeeeesh!

He's probably got a box in the other corner of the garage labled 'Extra Cash.'

First off, my garage is tiny, cold, and not a good place to store fishing gear. See what I mean?

So, I'm forced to keep most of my fishing gear in my tiny half-basement.

I keep all of my rods up against the wall.

I also store all of my bulk tackle in these storage bins. Everything except plugs go in there, or on top of there.

And finally, here's my workbench. Got all my tools, parts, bits, etc all handy. I can sit down here to escape from the baby and tie leaders, rig worms, make spinners, etc.

Ok, what I need is a new house. My 3 bedroom house is not longer cutting the mustard. Ain't it sad that a 4 bedroom, 2-bath house in Seattle will start at a half million and only go up from there! Yowza!

I don't have room for the prize ... rods and reels really aren't a problem, they're tucked in a corner or in the boat.

I would like to thank all of you for your pictures of your garages and fish equipment storage. After seeing this, I yanked, oops make that requested my sweet loving wife to look at them. She was surprised at how nice they all looked. Then she said, "Get to cleaning" or "I will, and Goodwill will get a bunch". So now I will be cleaning while it is raining.

It also cost me the price of a new washer and dryer and a portable dishwasher. Now I have to get the garage cleaned so we have a place to put them.
