Great report Yarndog! How was the water conditions? Do you drift eggs? or just corkey and yarn? I was not able to go today but plan on fishing the same general area tomorrow. I'll have a black back pack and green hat. I've been reading your post and hope I can repeat your performances on the Sandy  . I fished it for the first time this year for Coho and had a blast. I usually attempt to avoid the combat fishing locations but tomorrow I'm going to give it try . Its nice to fish at your own pace without having to wait for everyone else to cast/drift/retrieve/repeat . Its even better when your best hit of the day isn't the guy fishing across from you .

yd, When you crossed, the guage was at 10.5. How hard was the crossing. Very nice report!!

My favorite water has always been in the upper river from Revenue Bridge to Marmot. Besides the natives, a Lot of broodstock might pass Cedar Creek. Anyone have any information on that to share?

At 10.5 it was ok. That is for me though. I am pretty fearless when it comes to water though. I was swimming at birth. I know my limits and they are HIGH. I chase fish anywhere. I have crossed rivers with a fish on and find my self on the other side of the river trying to figure how to get back. There is a rock at the creek where I cross. If it is coverd I don't cross. If it splashing to the top of the rock I walk not run across.

yarn good for you... i hiked in to cedar creek this morning as well but w/ out success.... crossed the river about 7:15am or so... headed down past the meat hole and fished that stretch below it. Neither my buddy or I hit any fish - didn't see any landed... there was a fella just above us that had one throw the hook after a couple arials. Swung by the meat hole on the way back up and there were 4 or 5 guys in there and it sounded like they had returned a nate.

water looked good - wasn't that many people actually, but didn't here many that had caught any either...

There used to be a rope across the river to hold on to(many many moons ago when I was a young buck)
But for those of you that don't know, watch yourself, the Sandy can and has rose to levels after anglers have crossed and are unable to get back. Been there done that, don't want to do it again.

Default Sat. morning on the Sandy (Report)

Well I got down to the river about 6:30am this morning and crossed the river at the creek. I made my way down to the hole I like to fish to find that there were already two guys there. So I walked down a bit and had no luck. I decided to go back to the hole I like and started to fish above these two guys. It seemed like they were having a battle with the other anglers on the other side of the river. These two guys where shouting at the other anglers " You shouldn't fish right across from us. You keep crossing my line". There were seven guys fishing the same hole. Three on my side and four on the other. It was not bad compared to Coho season. The two guys fishing on my sided decided to leave. So I got my stuff and moved down to where these two were. I told the guys on the other side that we could make this work. "Down river man casts first and all would be good". About ten minutes later I hooked a little 6lb buck. As I was cleaning the fish the guys on the other side hooked two and lost both. When I was done cleaning the fish I got my hook back in the water and fist cast hooked one and lost it to a beautiful leap out of the water. About 15 minutes later I hooked another and had to chase her down stream. She was a nice 8lb fish. Too bad that those two guys left. The bite was on in that hole.
( Went 2-3 and was out of there by 10:00 )
I would love to hear how the rest of the day went from anyone out there!!!

So did anybody do any good on the Sandy today? The river was on the drop so it should have kicked out some fish. Lets hear your success stories.
thanks, matt

I saw one lost and heard of two natives released. Nothing for me. Water looked great - what a nice day weatherwise.

Sunday afternoon I ran down to Dodge Park. Hit it around 2:30pm, and saw one 6-8 lb on the shore. Was told by the owner of the fish that it was hot for 1/2 hr. Of course it was the 1/2 hour I wasn't there.

Fished till dark w/ no take downs. The guys coming back from Pipeline said they saw one pulled, with little action.
