Default Yamaha engine cooling problem

I have a 2006 Yamaha 150hp 4 stroke. Hooked up the ear muffs to it today to start the engine and make sure all is running and I have no water coming out the pilot hole. I stuck a flexible copper wire up the pilot hole thinking I had a blockage and could not find anything. I ran the garden hose to the flushing port on the motor and no water out the pilot hole.
Have not run the moptor more than 30 seconds or so at a time as I don't want to overheat it. Ran fine in the Willy a month ago.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated

Before I make a suggestion: Do you have the double flush ear muffs? Mine will not properly run on flush muff's unless I have the one that has water coming in both sides.

Mine has done that as well (and right after an impeller replacement), just up the RPM's for a short bit and it should work. If that doesn't do it, you might need to take it in.

Knotty, Appreciate your thoughts. I do not have the double flush muffs. I'll try sticking it in the water. You have probably nailed the problem
Will welcome any other thoughts on the issue.

You bet. I will add a little more back story on my comments above. I had the impeller replaced as it was time via maintainance schedule, and two, my tell tale was pretty weak (not unusual with the F150). I had sucked up a some fine sea grass crabbing that clogged my intake and had been a little wary of the tell tale ever since. Before the change even a double mitt wouldn't get the tell-tale going. After it would.

When mine wouldn't come out the tell tale I was dumping the boat in Odell this year after the impeller change. I just bumped up the RPM's for a few seconds and that got it going, haven't had a problem since.

Hope this helps.
