Default Job opportunity for an entrepreneur

I had to go to the DMV and renew the drivers license today :depressed: :depressed:

While standing in line that was so deep I couldnt see the front of the line, I was holding my number wondering if they really had to go thru a few thousand numbers to get to mine, there couldnt have been more than a few hundred in front of me :depressed:

anyhoo for this money making venture, head over to the Gladstone DMV office and run in and pull a number every 5 minutes, then stand out on the sidewalk and sell them. I would have been happy to pay somebody $10 to cut an hour off my wait. I talked to the only other guy in the place that spoke english and he said he would pay $20 to save the couple hour wait he had ahead of himself. I cant vouch for the rest of the people in there, they didnt speak english so I couldnt ask them

I have to believe when somebody walked in and pulled a number and saw how fast the employees there process the crowd, they would walk back outside and buy a smaller number from who ever was selling them.

could probably clear several hundred a day in cash.

Obviously you needed to get your picture taken otherwise you could of done it by mail.

So my question is, did the camera survive and did you have to stand on a foot stool?

thats why i try to do everything by mail with them. DMV offices are some of the most depressing places to be.

another thing, that is a good idea, if you go there just pull a couple more tickets and you can sell them to the newbies after you have waited the hour.

Be sure to renew your license frequently. Lose them, replace them....be sure to get new ones each month.

(yes, my company gets a cut of every license produced and I have stock options to look out for)

That's to much work Roy. Ya gotta stand there and pull them numbers and then wait for an english speaking buyer. Much easier to stand on an on/off ramp with a sign saying "dog hungry, me too. God Bless". Plus you get a nice tan on the good days and a free shower on the rainy days. Not only that but you get to see the coolest cars in Portland.

Speaking of English, can anyone understand the folks at the drive up windows of your local McDonalds or BK?

I know your pain, Roy. I had to register the new truck here in Vancouver the other day. Went in, got my number, sat in the nice air conditioned waiting area reading one of the many magazines. Had to wait 10-15 minutes and when I got to the window it took them about two minutes to make the Oregon truck a Washington truck.

Ok, I exagerated, it was less than 10 minutes.

Check out a DMV "Express" office for that stuff.

I haven't been to a DMV except to grab some forms in a LONG time. Getting your tags at the DEQ test place was a great idea.

The one in Salem is pretty good. I complimented them last time I had to go there for how quickly they moved through the line, and how polite and courteous they were.

Really! It's true! If it were a fish story, I'd be talking about how the number was "this big" and how I fought it for hours before snapping it off on a countertop.
