Default Sportsman's warehouse

Ok the wife and I were driving down 82nd not four blocks from my house and what do I see on the side of the road A big building with a sportsman’s warehouse sigh on it. So after I cried a little (tears of Joy) I realized with in one square mile of my house is now a Krispy kreams and a sportsman’s warehouse. I can go eat KK and then walk it off and drool at sportsman’s. I am starting to like living in felony flats haha

Before I moved, one opened up about five blocks from my apartment in Salem! Now I'm further away, but it's in the same shopping center as Winco, where I shop. And get this: my new neighbor was one of the managers! He was from Utah, and had never fished for salmon and steelhead. He had a billion questions. He got promoted and shipped off to Minnesota to be the GM for another one. What a shame. All that brand new salmon and steelhead gear, and now he's where there are no salmon or steelhead.

I'm heading up Vancouver way. Schools in this area have gotten too under-funded for me, so I'm going to take my tax dollars to an area where my kids can get a good education.

No income tax there either! But I heard the vehicle registration fees are murder.

Wrong on both accounts, brewski. I'm employed in Oregon, so I still pay income tax. Also, the vehicle registration fees have come WAY down due to a law passed by the voters a couple years ago. Give and take, I guess.

Ack! That sucks, paying income tax where you don't live. Guess what TFG: You'll still end up paying for those underfunded schools. You're not going to be taking your tax dollars anywhere. You'll be leaving them in Oregon. But hey, thanks for the donation!

Good point. Either way, at least my son and daughter will be in good schools, and I'll still come down to check out Sportman's Warehouse.

I like Sportman's. They are a good store.

I would absolutely love to see a Cabela's open up out here. I beleive it is only a matter of time.

Yaaay! Hopefully, they'll stock more saltwater gear than they do in Salem. Hmmm... I'll send Pilar and Puffin in. By the time they leave, the manager will likely be on the phone to HQ

I still like to support the little guy. I will continue to shop at Great American Tackle. Try to find somebody at Sportsmans Warehouse who knows anything about what they are selling.

I have to agree with StzII. I was in the Salem store last week and could not find any small Buzz Bombs. I asked the clerk where I could find them and he did not know what a Buzz Bomb was. He went to his fellow employee, who wandered the isles for a few minutes and then admitted he did not know if they had any small ones. Pretty soon, another clerk came up to me and told me that they had screwed up on an order and had only got the XH 3" size, which would be going on sale soon because they had so many.

Their selection is great, but... SD

I also agree with stzII. Generally it is a choice between selection and service, and I would rather deal with the local guy who offers good service that may include ordering something that he doesn't normally carry, over the Mega Lo Mart that has everything for less, but hires clerks and not experts in their department.

Of course, if the local guy gives horrible service, then he's losing his edge, and will suffer accordingly.
