Default Sliding aluminum bands on cork for rod seat?

How do you secure these? I have just the 2 aluminum sliding rings to secure my reel with on my rod, and they kinda snug on the reel and they work, but there has to be a way to actually get the reel to stick on there. Do I tie something on, or is there a device I buy for it? Nothing came with my reel to secure it.

That type of seat is similar to a "tennessee" handle. Most people wrap black electrical tape around the rings and reel foot to secure it tight. Wrap the tape on gently trying not to stretch it. When wrapping is complete, cut it offwith scissors and also cut the corners off so it doesn't spring back.

You can also use small zip ties to hold the reel on.

I drilled a small hole through the ring and into the reel, then taped threads into the reel base. I then fit a small set screw trhough the rings and into the reel base. It works great, and the threaded whole in the reel and in the rings is really no big deal. A five minute project with the tools in hand. Electrical tape made a sticky mess for me.

I use tennis racket tape on mine, and it works great.

Thats a good idea Troy. I like that actually. So you drilled right into the cork seat eh? Whats below it? Wood? Metal? Did you use a countersunk hole so its flush mounted?

Luni,
First I cinched up the bands as tights as I could get them. Next, I drilled a small hole, about 1/8 inch, through the bands and into the reel base. Next I threaded the hole in the reel base with a tap, and then screwed a small set screw through the band and into the reel.
Very clean and easy fix, and the reel has never worked loose.
My boy has the rod or I'd shoot you a photo.

So youre saying you just screwed the band to the reel base, but you didnt drill past that into the actual cork seat?

I think I get it.

Just use a very small set screw, only screws in 1/4 inch. No need to drill into the cork.
