I have a 08 NR Trapper and was thinking of ways to dampen the motor noise. I was considering installing rigid foil face insulation inside the motor cover. Has anyone tried this? Do you know of any potential problems? I appreciate any input.
Thanks

There is a foil backed sound deadening insulation sold at most stereo stores (I cant remember the name) that should work great.

For a metal doghouse, you will want the asphalt deadening material like DynaMat or B-Quiet to go on first. This will keep the doghouse from vibrating/resonating like an amplified speaker. You could then back it with another foam or foam foil product to cut the niose further and reflect heat.

Are mufflers installed in the exhaust hoses? That helps a lot .

The mufflers I had on my jet were in line, easy to install and lots quieter. They were made out of aluminum & stood up well in the salt. They did lower max rpm by about 200. No big deal.

I think I used dynamat on my old f 250 diesel. It made a big difference. Check Napa and some of the Body shop supply houses. Call a body shop and ask for there supplier address.
