Default Sick chicken? Any farmers out there?

My favorite pet chicken, Carol, is sick.
She will eat, but she is dragging and very weak. I fed her some wet bread. How can I fix her?

What do you do with a sick chicken?

Please don't tell me to put her down. I really like this chicken.

She follows me around, and I... well... I love her.

Jen, when I heard that you had already fed her the stuffing all sorts of recipes came to mind, but to go further with that train of thought would have been in poor taste [pun intended].

But in all sincerity maybe you should talk to a Vet because you don't know how serious this could be and obviously you are attached to this pet. Hope that there's a happy ending to this thread.

There are a lot of things that can make a chicken act sickly. Try this link The Poultry Information Exchange - Farm & Chicken Message Board

Yes, Ralph is still around, and crankier than he was!

Want a rooster?

Jen, I used to raise Chickens for 10 years. If you have them caged up the problem might be they have no gravel in their diet. They need gravel to digest their food. I think its the combo of the strong gizzard muscle and gravel. The poor bird might be plugged up with corn! Literally! The molting Season is soon.. keep that in mind.

Hmmm.. When I was around Chickens you didn't have to worry about this too much. The other chickens usually hmmmmm..... "took care" of the sick ones

That's the first time I heard the phrase "cluck taste cluck just cluck like cluck chicken"
