Default Stumps

Need some advise...

I have two doug fir stumps (4' radius) in my yard. Not sure if I should hire someone or rent a stump grinder.

Keep in mind I have never used a stump grinder...

I would dig them down aournd the sides then cut them off below the dirt line with a big chainsaw, then bury them.

I have grinded myself and it is a pain. Hiring someone to do it is expensive.

With a stump that big I would say hire someone. The rental units aren't setup for big stumps. The smallers ones work great for stuff under 24". Just my 2 cents

I hired a guy a few years ago to grind a big maple stump. He ground it to mincemeat in just a few minutes. I'm glad I didn't try to do it myself. Well worth the money.

I would definately have it done by a pro. There is a guy by the name of Rich Ezetta in Vancouver, Wa that is awesome and he has the big machines to do it. He is in the book

I Have used dynamite that works really well.. and fast.. Not to easy to get your hands on it now though.. I have also just burned them up.. takes a long time and a lot of care but it does work.

Just a thought.....hollow the stumps out with an adze or a chainsaw (gotta be really careful with those), drill a bunch of BIG bore holes down into the stumps, pack holes with composted manure, fill with dirt and plant flowers. They'll be gone in about 5 years
