Tigris River Tips???
Any good tips for fishing the Tigris around and below Mosul Dam? I haven't found any local hardcore fisherpeople.

Re: Tigris River Tips???
I hear they do pretty well with Dupont spinners just above the first tailout. Stay safe over there, and thanks.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Watch out for the bats around Babylon, as big as turkey vultures, not dangerous but spooky at sunset. Haven't been up the Tigris as far as Mosul though.

Re: Tigris River Tips???
Dupont spinners are not allowed in the new regs. Although it sounds like people are still using them around town. Big bats near Babylon? Cool, look forward to seeing those but mom does not let us out after dark much. We are not far from Babylon. Closer to the tomb Johnah of Jonah and the whale fame. He got a pretty good bite from a big one but I don't want to try his fishing technic just yet though.
The river is running pretty hard and clear right now, look like about 100,000 cfs. Noticed some boats in town, hmmm.

Careful. The Iraqis could be hiding their WMD's underwater.
Aren't M1's amphibious, or submersible? You could try backtrolling.

If you want to do some flyfishing, try a scud.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Not to be missed. Sitting on the rocks, watching the sunset over the palms, the bats coming out, the river glistening in the distance...imagining someone just like ourselves sitting there 10,000 years ago at the dawn of civilization...gives things a different perspective.
On the fishing...local knowledge is key.
