So, that was you!
The police in that city have been looking for a man that they say was intoxicated and who littered every night!

Was that you???

Messages in a helium ballon are not as romantic as a message in a bottle upon the sea.

No Jen, it wasn't me...mostly because Reedsport PD didn't have a marine patrol....and the CG rarely went above 101 bridge. We used to take my boat to town and The Wharf, a hard liquor bar & restaurant, was right there by the city launch with a handy float to tie up to. After closing down the place, we avoided the town's constabulary by going home the way we arrived... via boat. Never too drunk  to run the boat.

Default Message in a bottle

Bill Monroe's thread about glass floats made me think about bottles with messages inside.

I once lived in an apt. in an old cannery bldg built on piling, out over the water, at the confluence of the Smith and Umpqua Rivers, back in the mid-1970s. For a time, I got into the habit of drinking wine made at a local vineyard...I bought it by the case in half-liter bottles...and would drink one every night. The empty was washed & dried, a brief note (name, address, date, location, lat & long) was inserted, the cork firmly reseated, and, when the tide was running, it was tossed out into the ebb. I figure I produced about 100 bottles w/messages...but have yet to get a response....and now, several moves and cities later, its probably asking too much for the Reedsport postmaster to track me down should anyone respond (probably get a response now from OSP for littering within 100 yds of a stream ).

Some of those bottles may still be bobbing around out there.

Anyone else done this? Results?
