Default First Good Largy Of '09

Today was only the second time I've been able to go fishing since I got back from New York. My dad and I got to the lake at about 7:30. We start the day off by missing three top water bites right off the bat. One of which was a big fish, probably around five or six pounds. We continue to fish and we catch a few three pounders. A little bit later, my dad gets bit and fights a big fish for a couple seconds, but he never got the hook in her. He looses her. So at this point, my dad and I are both mad because we've both lost big fish so far. We continue to fish and we don't get anything for a while. We go back to the place where my dad lost the big fish and I throw my bait over the top of it a couple of times. On my third cast to the cover, I hook into a pig. I fight her for a little bit, then get her in the boat. We put her on the scale, 7 lbs 9 oz. We take a few pictures of her and let her go. We fish for another half hour or so and I hook into another good fish. We get her to the boat and put her on the scale, she's 5 pounds. We fish for another hour or two, then decide to leave. It was a pretty good day on the water today.

Very nice fish!

Is it just me or does that 5er look like it has been fanning a bed? I caught a good fish a few years ago in July and it looked like if had been fanning a bed. Is it normal for big fish to spawn this late or are they spawning a second time?

Thanks,

Mike

Nate, When you catch a big fish always remember to look at your dad and say "Thanks dad I love you" Vinny is a super dad and a great fisherman.

Great post Nick....and excellent picture taking. Those are beautiful fish, that everyone gets to admire, and no one knows where you are fishing! Everyone wins!

Way to go! Don't forget to tell your dad thanks for taking you fishing so you could kick his butt!

Actually why not just same time and have Nick attach a radio tag to the fish so that it will save time once you get to the lake.
