Keta, I got Klez-H about a year ago, it didn't do a whole lot of damage to me though. It made up alot of it's own e-mail addies and sent itself to those addies. One day when I turned the puter on I got close to 100 non-deliverable e-mails returned to me! It was strange because it didn't send itself to most of the people in my address book. I went in search for a fix and found Kleztool, downloaded it and fixed the problem, haven't seen it since.

I posted a virus alert several weeks back and the thread was removed (deleted). Was informed that the thought was nice but not needed on ifish. I have Win XP 2000 and Nortons latest holy graille? so I'm covered but I'm sure some may find the info needed from time to time.

The problem with the run-of-the-mill virus warning is that most of the time people do it based on something that they got in email; i.e., they got an email from someone they know saying "Search your computer for a file called <blank>. If you have it, then delete it because IT'S A VIRUS!!!". The problem with that is that nobody bothers to verify this before they post it (or forward it to their friends), and it turns out to be a "social virus", which is a fake virus warning which tells a person to delete a valid system file. Bad.

What Keta did was post a link to a Reuters article about a virus that he had received. There is a legitimacy to the alert at this point, so we leave it.

Hopefully that makes sense.

My posted email addy here is strickly set up for ifish incomming mail Not trying to cause a problem, just noticed the post  As I said my norton detected it so no biggie but others might not be as aware.

ifishers, Be sure to install a quality virus protection software.

It was a (SoBig.A. virus)

Sorry about that, Fshklr. We try and stay consistant around here, but we don't always succeed.

More important than having world-class virus protection software is updating it at LEAST weekly, if not daily. New viruses come out every day, so it pays to be prepared.
