why do they need a pota pot there? and what does that have to do with closing the creek? This is the most insane thing I have heard of yet as a reason to close a hole. I have fished these rivers for 30 years, and did fine with out a porta pot. Is everyone is just going soft or what. Whats next?

Bank anglers park at the deadline and go across the river to fish from shore at a privately owned farm. When there is a porta-potty at the parking lot, anglers use it instead of leaving a mess on the farm. If the messy droppings continue, there is a probability that the farmer would remove access to his side of the shore. Other options exist here, but this is the solution recommended by ODFW and supported by a small sample of users. Thanks for your input, and perhaps there will be other views coming in. Incidentally, we already have 2 groups to pay for one month each, so we need 3 more.

billsan,
There was always a porta-potty at the hatchery hole when I used to fish it 5-6 years ago.
What happened to that porta-potty ?
Or do they need one on both sides of the bridge?

Neither ODFW nor Steelheaders nor Nestucca Anglers knows who used to provide the porta-potty. Since we are in the middle of the season there, ODFW wants a quick solution to prevent a future access problem. ODFW will try to get an agency solution for next year, but needs help right away before the problem gets out of hand and we lose some prime shore access. They only want one on the North shore, and anglers from both shores can use it.

"No Wishin"~... hmmmmm, I don't think I'm going to comment on your comment.

I'm hoping you were being sarcastic.

...that river is a great, and close, fishery that needs to be respected, not closed.

Thanks Bill

The bummer is going to be when it gets shot up or trashed by vandals. The outfits that supply those things won't be too happy, and they won't rent them to you again.

I have had a few in the woods for offroad events and one day of not being watched they get shot up pretty bad. I know there are houses near by but there is some class of people out there that can't let things go unvandalized.

I recall there use to be one at the 3Rivers ramp on the tucker,,,is it still functioning?

Now why in the world would someone take a dump or what-ever out there anyway?
Comeon people cleanup your act. I don't crap in your front room, don't do it in our backyard.

Last year I caught 3 young guys down below leaving a real mess and really unloaded on em' . I'd really be suprised if they would ever leave their dirty socks out of the hamper now.

So what happend to using all the fee increases to cover this type of thing? No matter how much they sock us for it is never enough. I really think people need to show a tad bit more class than to take a dump in the parking lot, they could just as easily drive a few miles to a public restroom.

For what it is worth, I think that those who feel that there is a personal need for a porta-john at Three Rivers suffer from a lack of logistical planning. The truth is, the more that is put into place there the more attractive the spot becomes to vandals and vegrants. The Hatchery Hole is already crouded and has enough litter problems, I feel that implementing a "Blue Room" would add to an already attractive neusiance.

The logistical planning issue is planning for contingincies, in that people are lazy enough. If you put a "Blue Room" on one side of the river, I am almost sure that there will be an issue, why not have one on the other side of the road. Besides, think of all of the passers-by who would stop to use the "can".

Careful planning for your fishing trip should include the nearest locations for public relief facilities, your taxes already pay for public use facilities. Why pay more for what you are already paying for. This is not a park we are talking about, a wayside at best.

Bill are you talking about Stanley's property? If so, it needs to be taken care of pronto.
Let me know, and I'll see what we can do.

Default Three Rivers (Hebo) needs help

Access to the South river bank is threatened because of the lack of a porta-potty at the deadline near the Three Rivers hatchery. Steelheaders and Nestucca Anglers need help with expenses for five months to pay for the porta-potty. It is around $75 per month, so if five groups pay one month each, the problem will be solved for this season. Agency funding might or might not be available next year, but we need help now for this season, which is starting to become quite good. Please e-mail me or call 503-897-3301 if you would like to help with this. Assistance will be a major public relations benefit. Thanks. Bill Sanderson

I applaud your efforts, Bill. Ifish is all about bonding together and going the extra mile for the greater good, and you and yours have surely proved that w/ this endeavor.

I have personally never fished this hole, and may never, who knows?, but your efforts should not be discounted in favor of singular thought.

tight lines and clean seats.

We had the portapotty delivered today, and it is in service as we write. ODFW is very happy this problem has been temporarily solved. Organizing and financing credit goes to ODFW, Nestucca Valley Sporting Goods (Ron Byrd), several Steelheader Chapters, and Sportsman's Warehouse. We still need help to pay for it.

There is a restroom up the hill at the hatchery that we use all the time. It's nice to see there is a porta-potty down below now.
With men around making comments like some of the above we can never have enough toilets scattered around because obviously some of you as as full of "logic" as a christmas goose!
