About a month ago I was fishing the mouth of a slough and had a rod and reel fall out of the boat and sink. I have gone back out many times trying to retrieve the pole with no luck. My buddy thought if was pretty funny watching me trying to snorkle in 60 degree water looking for this pole. No visiblity. I have dragged a barbed weight across the bottom, with no luck.

This is not an expensive pole, but I did make this pole from a blank back when I was in middle school. If it weren't for that I would not worry about it.

So, if anyone is fishing the river and willing to drag the bottom a little I would appreciate it. PM me if you are willing and I will give you the location.

There are a number of scuba divers on this site, most in the salty dogs, but you could contact them. I am sure there some from around salem. Would have to be fairly slack on current.
