Default Conversion from pressure tank to pump?

What all is involved in converting from use of pressurized fuel tanks to a fuel pump? Is it as simple as wiring in an automotive style fuel pump in the fuel line and switching to a non pressurized tank? Right now my main motor is a '64 Evinrude, but looks like I'm probably getting a '67/68 Merc from Gun Rod Bow. The only reason I'm toying with this idea is the fact that my pressurized tank is probably as old as the motor, and replacement tanks seem to be getting more and more expensive (not sure why no one is making new pressure tanks, it's not like there's not a metric buttload of old motors that use them out there still in service...)

Should I convert, or stick with the pressurized tank setup until the tank fails or the motor dies?

If all your doing is getting a new motor that doesn't use the pressurized system, then just get a new tank with it, they cost around $20.00 on sale, less than 30.00 full price and you need to get a new hose anyhow.

No need for electric fuel pumps on the conversion for the older J/E models, you just get a newer stock fuel pump, mount it on the old motor and then use the low cost current hoses and tanks. If you need a link to the instructions I can supply one.

I think the mercs of the late 60's vintage are also pressurized-tank systems. The tank I'm using now is actually a 6 gallon Mercury tank instead of the OMC tank. Difference is the fitting on the tank.

Just wondering what would be involved in converting to an electric pump setup.
