Re: One opinion on school vouchers
Should we also provide vouchers for abortion to those covered under government sponsored health care plans?
Do you feel a woman's right to choose should be protected regardless of who is paying for it?
If we are to stay within the argument of choice which both you and Cal Thomas promote, does it not stand to reason that supporting and promoting a womans choice to abortion also makes sense?
Not only does it uphold the notion of choice, it may also help us with our education problem by offering easier access to a medical procedure that could result in fewer kids coming from less than adequate homes needing to be educated.
What do you think?

Re: One opinion on school vouchers
I think I was trying to make a point about education and you threw up a red herring!

Re: One opinion on school vouchers
My question makes you uncomfortable, huh?
Fisheromen said in one of his posts that he believes in "personal liberties whenever possible" and said he believes we as a society should have the right of choice. He says these are motivating factors in his stance on public education.
I am curious how far and with how much conviction he believes we should have "personal liberties whenever possible" and that we should have choice.
Why is that considered a red herring? Choice is choice, isn't it? Personal liberty is personal liberty, isn't it?

Re: One opinion on school vouchers
Sorry, I won't bite that herring. You see, people use red herrings or ad hominem attacks (such as the theology one from another post) when they want to divert attention from the issue at hand (for whatever reason). I'm not the one trying to avoid the discussion topic, you are. It seems to be a common tactic on this board which I don't intend to get suckered into anymore. If you have something to say about this excellent article on EDUCATIONAL vouchers I'd love to hear it because you have thought a lot about these kinds of things.

Re: One opinion on school vouchers
Evidently you missed my response to school vouchers in the other thread:
"I disagree. What is to stop people that are able to supplement their voucher with private funds in order to be able to afford a better school? If that turns out to be a private school, then we have the state helping pay for private school. Further, you would likely have the state paying for religous schools. Neither case is acceptable to me with my tax dollars, thank you."
Cal Thomas's opinion does nothing to change mine.
I am still curious to know to what extent you believe people should have as much liberty as possible, the very general statement you made in another thread. It was not limited to education as presented but I feel the answer would shed light on your motivation and some of the foundation of your belief in terms of education.
