HELP!!! Need Historical prices
Have a 30th Anniversary next weekend and I'm putting together a slide show...I'm looking for what a BRAND NEW car would have cost in 1973. I don't have much more time to research the internet. Does anybody know a site that I can to straight to for historical data like this?
Thanks!!

Re: HELP!!! Need Historical prices
I don't know about 1973, but my 1969 Mustang cost $2,500 new. (and to think, that's what I sold it for in 1987) :depressed:

Man, that's a tough one. I googled it, I asked Jeeves, nada!
I'm thinking your public library? If you could find an old edition of Consumer Reports, or Car & Driver, or some kind of buyer's guide.
Maybe someone else can find a Web source.

Re: HELP!!! Need Historical prices
Thanks for trying you two...I was hoping that someone out there would be able to go "wham" and have the info for me...
FYI-Pilar, my dad bought a '75 truck brand new for 5k and he still gets offers today for that same money! Its crazy! I'd use that for an example if I can't find a '73.

1973 Buick Century $3,700.
National Geographic always had car ads in the front of their issues, and in those days they also had the guts to post the prices.
College libraries - Google is good, but I'll take an experienced college librarian any day.

My 1974 Dodge Dart 2-door hardtop, 318 CI engine, vinyl top and all the berries, cost $3130. Wish I still had it..... :depressed:
