Default Clear lake (Mckenzie pass) reports?

I will be camping and fishing Clear lake and possibly Carmen Res. 7-16 to 7-19 with our kids and my wifes family. Any recent reports to get me more excited. Mostly a laid back do what ever trip but I am always fishing.

Haven't been for a bit, but last time I was there powerbait worked everywhere! Worms trolled in deeper areas may produce slightly larger fish. Anchoring and casting, then letting the p-bait lay on the bottom was the best way we caught them, with several 13-15 inch fish!

Hey benny boy. I did read your last report and was thinking about sending you a pm. I usually slow troll worms, wedding ring and worm or flies but I may try the power bait thing this year. I will have 4 people in the boat most of the time and it is an easy way to fish.

Went up for the day yesterday (Sunday July 12th) Took the pontoon out. Was alittle windy, but i anchored up fished Worms, Pautzke's Eggs, and even tried some powerbait off the bottom and did well. Caught a nice fat 15" bow with a huge belly on him. Of course i didnt have the camera with me to take pics. We fished all day and culled through the smaller fish. All the fish we kept were in the 13"-15" range like Benny Boy had mentioned. People were limiting out all over the lake. Most people i talked too we're using worms and green power bait off the bottom or using the wind as a slow "troll". Good luck!

I was thinking about hitting clear lake tomorrow, as I have the day off. But I can't get anyone to go along in the drift boat! Glad to hear your fishing went well and to leave with limits of 13-15 inch fish is definitely a nice bag. If fishing is slow at clear, remember that just down the road you have trailbridge, smith, and carmen. Carmen has been producing some beauty fish the last few trips with a few up and over the 16 inch mark. They were the larger cutthroat that were released and didn't fight as good as one would hope but still big beautiful fish to fight in!

I was surprised to learn that there are cutthroat in Carmen. I was up there yesterday (Sunday 8-23) where i landed and released a nice 15"-16". It put up a nice fight with the light tackle i was using.

I checked the regulations when i got back to the truck and found there is nothing saying you can't keep them. Sure wished i would have had my camera out on the pontoon with me instead of in the truck!

We used to catch a lot of brook trout in Clear Lake but haven't seen any the past few years - anyone know what happened to them?
