An Apology
Once again, I find that a few times I have opened my mouth, when I should have kept it shut....not the first time. I will, from this point on, post only fishing related remarks, and stay ENTIRELY away fro anything political. I am actually a nice person, I have a wonderful wife, two ADORABLE little boyz I would die for, a good job, and maybe a touch of bitterness, please forgive me, especially those few on here who know me. I have some things rough going on in my life, but dont we all....no excuses. I LOVE to fish and hunt, and love this site...Thank you, Jennie, I would love to meet you some day. I also have a 14 ft boat I am IMMENSELY proud of, with many times an open seat...and I can always learn more, though no alchohol, I am a recovered alchoholic, rode into Vancouver on a freight train about 16 yrs ago, after 4 yrs homeless. Anyway, folks, I want a few friends. Ken

Re: An Apology
Thankfully, feisty, I don't know which post you are talking about.
While apologies are welcome, I cannot find a way to make this fishing related, so it's off to LIG.

Re: An Apology
I, too, have found anything political or government related "off limits", as far as posting replys. Seems like when I have an opinion on something, there are several who take offense, and it's just not worth getting hot under the collar, or argueing about. I try to stick to more passive issues.....

Re: An Apology
I don't like to get into it with my fellow fishing buddies over political stuff. I am very right of center and fish with friends who are way on the other side. I can't change them, they can't change me.
When fishing it is about the fishing and nothing else, all that other stuff gets put aside.
You'll notice I don't get into the frays at all, I like you guys and want to fish with ya'. I'll leave it at that.
Feisty, I can't figure you out yet but that's OK, you can be a guest on my boat anytime.

Re: An Apology
I know what you mean, Staying away from the politics can be a lot healthier. I've met some great people, regulars guys, but if you were to base an opinion on their political point of view you would might avoid them. Actually the ones I disagree with the most are the ones I want to meet, just to see if they have three eyes, have scales and breathe fire.

Re: An Apology
YUP, just like the old addage goes, don't talk about politics or religion-- I too have upset some folks in the past--- oh well--
if we always said what others wanted to hear, we would never know indifference-- it's not the differences between our opinions that gets tempers rising, it's the inability to recognize and apprecaite anothers opinion, no matter how right or wrong we may think it is-

Re: An Apology
I had to retire from the political posts as well. I was opening my mouth too much and got tired of making a mule of myself. (Not that that applies to you). I think you and I bantered back and forth some, and for the record, I should tell you that the views you have expressed in no way reflect on what kind of person you are. Try not to worry about it. We all have opinions, and I like to think that people judge me by my actions, not by the garbage that occassionally spews out of my mouth!!
I don't know what prompted this post, but welcome to the anti-politics wagon. I've fallen off a few times, maybe some more folks on board will help keep me straight.
And don't sweat it, folks around here really don't seem to hold grudges.

Re: An Apology
I shoulda been a lawyer...but I have too much self respect.
A little secret about me. I love to "argue". Sometimes I'll jump the fence and even defend the indefensible just for poops and giggles!! I love to talk politics and religion, not too mention more mundane topics, and have been known to argue with myself over which pair of shoes to wear on particularly long winter days
I too have crossed the line occasionally , but I hold nothing, literally nothing--I have ever read on this board over anybodies head, nor would I judge a person by what they wrote when in a bit of a dither
I like people, and have some of the closest friends a human being can have (always open for more too). If I'm your friend, I'll always look out for your welfare--come hell or high water.
I may be an abrasive cuss prone to erethism (look it up, it's an interesting word), but once ya get to know me--ah heck, you'd probably hate me anyway...but ya'all can be my friends 'til ya decide ya don't wanna be anymore!
"We are the world, we are the children..."
Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along."
WildHawg: Hell no!!! What's the fun in that!?!
Hang in there Feisty. Takes guts to post a retraction/apology, though I don't have a clue why you did. You don't want EVERYBODY to like ya anyway!
If you were to ask someone who knows me what kinds of acquaintances I have, they'd likely answer "those who love him and are very close, and those who can't stand him." That is just the way I want it too. I surround myself with intelligent, loyal, wry people. They can take my crap, and dish it out too. We have lots o' fun.
In parting I'll add that "lukewarm, fairweather friends" are a waste of energy and time. Just try and care about everybody, whether you agree with them or not, and let'em love ya or hate ya. It's the folks in the middle that'll screw ya!!

Re: An Apology
Wildhawg: Did you perchance mean erethism?
My favorites are querulent and splenetic.

Re: An Apology
Er--ahhhh....yeah! That's the ticket !!!!
Shootin' from the hip on that one--still one of those rarely used fun kinda words!
And Stg. Rule, did you perchance mean querulous .
I appreciate those who take the time to perfect their semantic abilities
Now let's work on our spelling

Re: An Apology
No, I meant peevish; fretful; complaining, not habitually and abnormally suspicious. So querulent is correct.
