By the way...where is my Amen?

What's the standard deviation on that estimate?

Re: Can I get an Amen?
I'll give you a big fat Amen brother. However, if you look at the number of times I have posted , take into consideration my demographics, the number of black helicopters presently over my house, you will find that your big fat Amen is skewed. Statistical analysis of my post reveals it to only be a rather rotund Amen brother.
Now you are like school in the summer time...no class.

Re: Can I get an Amen?
Correlation does not imply causation. Half the population is below average. What good is a null hypothesis if the regression has too many variables? T-test or R-test? Why sample when you can survey the entire population? ARRGGHH!

Re: Can I get an Amen?
I am, and I say that with a 99% confidence interval. The other 1% would be that of your standard deviants.

Let me suggest, without a hint of malice, that you are not qualified to judge, unless you are one of the 1%.
Yet another example of confidence masquerading as expertise.

Where do you predict your grade to average out? Please answer in mean, median and mode.
Congratulations! Welcome to another esteemed member of the "Anyone Can Stand on There Head in a Bucket of Muck for a Semester" club!!

Re: Can I get an Amen?
Any associated supporting element maximizes the probability of project success,
yet minimizes cost and time required for the subjective decomposition criteria.
Similarly, the interrelation of system and/or subsystem technologies presents
extremely interesting challenges to anticipated fourth-generation equipment.
Evidently, the incorporation of additional program constraints cannot be
overemphasized when taking into account the subsystem compatibility testing. We
can see, in retrospect, the use of hierarchical structures relating to resource
ownership and allocation adds overriding performance constraints to the concept
of program robustness. Specifically, the effectiveness of marginal isoquant
analysis mandates operations-level consideration of the differentiation between
requirements definition and object coordination. Notably, a large portion of
interface coordination communication presents extremely interesting challenges
to the not insignificant implementation limitations. Simply stated, the use of
hierarchical structures relating to resource ownership and allocation cannot be
overemphasized when taking into account assumptions that represent more than
one interface. It is further assumed that any associated supporting element may
only become apparent when we explicitly design the preliminary qualification
limit. Without going into the technical details, a correct and consistent dual
description of an abstract interface is not free to define the principles of
effective resource management. Interestingly enough, the characterization of
specific criteria recognizes other systems' importance and the necessity for
overall program marketability.

Re: Can I get an Amen?
WOOOHOOOO!!!! I'M FREEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more statistics!!!! Final is done!!!
Now...the tension mounts. How did the young (and good looking) Texan do? Did he do good enough on the final to ensure company reimbursement? Did he come up short, thus costing him $2k? Only time will tell.
Please pray with me that I did as well on the final as I think I did. I can think of better ways to spend $2,000.
In the meantime, one final down, one to go. And more importantly, I'm NEVER taking statistics again in my life!!!!

Re: Can I get an Amen?
A group is hiring for a statistician's position. Applicant 1 is an applied mathematician. The final question on the interview is "1 + 1 = x, what is x". The applied mathematician replies, "It is some number between 0 and 2, more than that I cannot say with certainty". Applicant number 2 is a chaos theorist, his answer is "The answer is 2, but with a confidence interval of plus or minus 1,000". The final applicant is a statistician. He reads the question several times, ponders, scribbles on some paper, ponders some more, then finally excuses himself from the room. He walks around for a few minutes, then returns and says "What do you WANT X to be?"
There's a group of statisticians and engineers on a train to a conference. All the engineers had tickets, but the stat's only had one ticket between them. The engineers asked how the stat's planned on getting away with that. The statisticians replied "We have methods for dealing with that".
When the conductor came to punch tickets, the stat's slipped into the bathroom. When the conductor knocked on the door, they slipped one ticket under the door and fooled him.
After the meetings, they were again on the train together. This time the engineers were smarter and bought only one ticket. However, the statisticians bought none. The engineers asked how they planned to get away with THAT. And the stat's replied "We have different methods for that".
Later, when the conductor came around, all the engineers headed to the restroom, and all the statisticians headed to the other restroom. Then one stat. snuck out and knocked on the door. The engineers slipped their ticket under, and the statistician returned to the bathroom.
The engineers were later publicly humiliated.
The moral of the story is....Do not use statistical methods unless you fully understand the principles behind them.

Re: Can I get an Amen?
AMEN...but only because you are probably from Texas and probably therefore have some regard for deity!
Being from Texas is it time for now that finals are (almost) done?
