We got a GF as a wedding gift, and laughed. Then we used it...we stopped laughing. Those things are great!!

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Read an article in an old "People" mag at the eye doctor the other day that said Salton, the maker of the Foreman grill, paid ol' George something like $135,000,000 (yes, million) in a deal that would allow them to stop paying royalties to him. Apparently they've made and sold over 50,000,000 of those grills  and the settlement would be cheaper than continuing to pay out royalties. Boy, do I feel poor. Just 10 years or so ago George was on the ropes financially (no pun intended). I'd say he's turned things around quite nicely.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
I love my George Foreman...Here's a quick cleaning tip. When you remove your Prize Fight winning meal from the grill..Place a wet rag (wash cloth) onto the entire surface and close for several minutes. The heated steam will help remove any stubborn material and it wipes clean easier.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Oh....don't tell me I'm gonna have to buy a GF Grill....I've always snickered at them...thought they were just another 'gimmick' cooking gadget. My Mother-In-Law has a GF, but she buys anything... I'm running out of storage space...2 bread machines, slow cooker, deep frier, food chopper, blender, food processor, electric fry pan(s)...griddles...you name it...I've got it! Tell me the truth...is this GF thing really great?

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Lucky Bamboo - YES! They are terrific. I'm one of those people who likes a hot meal for dinner, even in the summertime. Don't always have time for the BBQ or want to deal with it. Throw a sandwich on the Foreman grill (or knock-off) and voila! Hot meal on the run, without heating up the house.
My son LOVES to throw a pre-formed hamburger patty on the grill now and again. And clean-up is so easy, he even does it! (well, sometimes)
My daughter is partial to hotdogs. The grill is perfect. A dog fits right into the grooves and heats without burning it (she won't eat blackened hot dogs)
Yup! Love that grill!

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
We started with a small Foreman grill (use a knockoff? Blasphemy) and within a year we had the largest one. I cooked a springer fillet that was more than an inch thick last Saturday, and that was almost too thick, as the flavoring that I used (sugar-based with a spicy hickory tinge) almost was burned. An inch or less is optimal for any cut of meat.
We do beef steaks, chicken breasts, sausages, bacon, and a bunch of other stuff. Use it probably 3-4 times a week. Cooks fast, cleanup is okay, and the results are great.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
I won a GF grill at my wife's company picnic. Used it about twice doing burgers, I think it's too hard to clean, but I'll try that tip posted earlier in the thread. I just wish the cooking surfaces were detachable.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Radke, when the grill is warm, the surfaces should just wipe clean. If the damp cloth doesn't work for you, just heat up the grill and spray a little water on it. Wipe with paper towels.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Hey! I'll have you know that I fished with Silver Hilton last Thursday and...well...it was one of those "You shoulda been here yesterday" moments. However, due to an unfortunate piece of information that I now have about Mr. Hilton I was sent home with half of a fish that he had caught the day before.
Tasted great, regardless who caught it.
Oh, and I caught a springer LAST YEAR. Don't wanna seem greedy.

Well......sounds like "clean the cupboards and re-organize" time! I'm not rushing out today to buy one of these little 'miracles'.....I'll wait till they go on sale somewhere. After all, a Gormet Cook has to have every available 'tool' at her fingertips....right?

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Finally. I have preached the good news for GF grills (we have three big ones) to my fishing buds. All I got was laughs and snickers. Yup, fine tool for cooking up that fresh albie, chinook or steelie. Just remember to keep the fillets 1" or under in thickness and enjoy. That tip about a moist rag for clean up is a good one. We use one just for fish and the other one goes for meats. The third one is at our second home. Oh, I guess we have four total. My college age daughter has one in her apartment, gift from her grandmother.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Did I get a bad one?
.
We have tried one a couple times now. Like most things sold "As-Seen-On-TV", it never seemed to quite right. Maybe you need to use meat with a higher fat content ~ we use venison which may be too lean for the thing.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Stew, you said you were cooking teriyaki chicken on your grill. YOu have a recipe you mind sharing. I have been looking for a long time for a good teriyaki Chicken recipe that I can cook on my GF grill. If it is a household secret, don't worrky about it.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Mr. Carp - Idea for teriyaki chicken - I usually make my own marinade. 1 c. water - add honey, worchestshire sauce, soy sauce (I use lite), onion powder, garlic powder and a little black pepper. Can't tell you the exact measurements, but you can probably guess at them fairly closely. When finished adding all this stuff, you should have 2 cups of marinade.
Plunk boneless, skinless breasts (chicken) into a ziploc bag, cover with the sauce and marinade for 12-24 hrs. grill. The sauce won't burn.
Enjoy.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
Toss some ginger in there for a good bite, and even some red wine vinegar. Mix well, marinade forever.

Re: George Foreman Grill... (knockoff)
On a similar note I got my wife a Pannini Grill from Krups. It's primarily used to grill sandwiches but you can do meats also. Similar concept. It's turned out to be a pretty cool tool!
