Upper Deschutes Reports

Anyone have a report of how fishing is on the upper deschutes? I like to fish above Crane Prairie and below Lava. We are going to be over at Odell this weekend and wondering what the fish were feeding on.

Odell is being a bit persnickety. Jigging on the bottom with bluebacks tipped with corn soaked in tuna oil. If trolling, 3 red beads or wedding rings tipped with crappy nibbles (white or red) or corn soaked in tuna oil. Bite is inconsistent but a few are getting their limits. Some days last week the water was calm till 12 or 1 instead of the usual 10 am "breeze".

I've heard mixed reports about the fishing, but there is one thing for sure; bring 100% DEET bug spray. It's one of the worst years on record for mosquitos in the area. A friend went to fish that stretch a couple of weeks ago and he was literally sprinting for his car after a few minutes. He was wearing less than 100% DEET and had bites everywhere he didn't have a heavy coating of bug spray.
