Default mirror or trillium?

I have to drop my children off at the airport at 6 am on thursday and figured i go do some fishing. I have been hitting the warm water fish hard and am ready to catch some slime rockets. Stocker trout aren't the funnest but i see that they have stocked trillium heavily already including last week. Also alot of trophy trout. I have never been to mirror and like the idea of catching some brookies and rainbows ( i find it funner to have at least a couple of different species to chase). I will have my float tube with me. My question is should i just go to trillium where it won't be hard to catch a couple hundred trout in half a day or is it worth the hike up to mirror with my float tube and waders??? also, it will be about 8 before i got to the trail head so what are my chances of finding a parking spot (even though its not the weekend). Are the fish at mirror already hit pretty hard this year or could i catch a couple hundred? If its tough to catch 50 not sure if its worth the hike (although i could sure use the exercise). anyways, any and all opinions are much apreciated. also, the weather looks a little iffy and not sure if i want to hike up there just to fish in the cold rain. at least at trillium i would be close to the car

don't forget, there are also cutthroat in mirror. If you have a float tube than you may have fun at mirror since it is lightly fished (yes there are a lot of hikers but not many of them fish it). I know trillium can get really crowded on the water in the afternoon. I wouldn't worry about the hike since it takes maybe 20 to 25 minutes. more of a walk since it is 1.5 miles, 700 ft elevation gain. my guess is you will catch more at trillium but it is still fun to fish mirror

I fished Trillium twice in the last couple weeks with float tube and fly rod. Its hard to keep the little stockers off your line, but in 10 hours fishing that lake I landed 6 fish over 19". They don't fight hard AND the water is very warm right now so they are especially lethargic. Its a hooligan crowd there with no manners.

I'd go to Mirror.

hey guys thanks for the responses. It sounds like mirror is where i should go. My other concern i just had is I have boot-on waders and there is no way i could hike in them without getting lots of blisters. So i planned on carrying all my gear up in my backpack. the problem is where do I keep my pack with my hiking boots and dry clothes (my waders leak a little) so that people don't mess with it or steal it or something while im fishing?

Jeez, just stick them behind a tree somewhere---the typical meth head thief will bash cars at a trailhead but won't make the effort of actually hiking in anywhere. I've carried my gear in many times and never had any problem with theft once I'm actually in the woods.

I'm sorry to hear that about the crowd. Trilliums been a family favorite for us for over 40 years.

Last year when I had my kids there camping there was definately some aggressive behavior going on. I was hoping it was an isolated incident.

We were thinking of camping there again this year but we're not so sure.

I have been to Trillium twice this year and did hear some rough language and run into some young kids that didn't exactly respect the out door experience, but I don't think it is any worse than all of the other places close to Portland and planted with stockers. Go, make the best of it and use the punks as an example for your kids it is still a beautiful lake and the fishing has been great.
