Hey, Keta! (or Nerta)
Enjoying your snow?
One of the blowhards at the airbase said there was 6" piled up Thurs morning. I think he was hallucinating. There wasn't much at 3:00pm. It did look like it was getting ready to dump again.
Usually that's a good trip for me 'cuz the weather is better than PDX. Not so this week. :depressed:

1 pump: I'm not sure about 6" of snow we had 3" in the back yard at 630am it had melted down to spots by the time work was over. Fished the lake this morning with no luck but the wind waves got to about 4' so we came in. It's 42 deg. and snowing right now.

3" here to but I live 1 mile north of the airport and they might have had more
The lake was rough today and we took a few over the bow.

Re: Hey, Keta! (or Nerta)
It looked rough all week. What were you fishing for? Somebody told me that there's lake trout in there. I've heard about bull trout and the occasional sturgeon, but lake trout?

KLamath Lake has redband rainbows 2-10 pound average. Agency lake has large browns too.
The lake averages 6' deep with a few 30' holes and one around 60' all on the west side. The east side is mostly 2'-3' deep.

Re: Hey, Keta! (or Nerta)
Keta - How do you fish for them? I heard there weren't very many fish in the lake, total, but if you get one it will be big. Also...are they edible?
Oregon Trout spent a lot of money...several hundred thousand bucks...de-channelizing the lower Wood River a few years ago which was supposedly going to have major fish habitat benefits for the lake system. Seen any changes yet?

Re: Hey, Keta! (or Nerta)
Casting flys into the shallows works but we usually troll large spoons a long ways back from the boat. Bank fishermen do well with minnows. The fish aren't too good to eat and we usually release them. I haven't noticed any changes in the number of fish in the lake (few) but the Klamath Tribe hits them hard during their spawning run up the Williamson and Wood Rivers.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Thanks Keta...I've heard recent wetter years and higher lake level has resulted in some big redbands in Goose Lk at Lakeview. They drop down into the lake and grow fast in the alkaline lake. Big fish out there in Goose Lake...but few & far between. Encounter rate is probably low.
I hope the bankies at Klamath are using dead minnows because I think live bait is illegal  east of I-5.

Re: Hey, Keta! (or Nerta)
Bait minnows are usualy caught in the fall when the canals drop and frozen until spring. The only place where live chub minows were used was in Diamond Lake and whoever did that should be shot (only in the knee cap SD, if that's ok with you).

Keta,
You're testing my moderate standards here.
The only way I could agree with you is if you had said BOTH knees!
