Default Odell or Wickiup??

Contemplating heading up the hill and staying at Odell and/or Wickiup this weekend. Anybody hear how the fish and the mosquitos were biting last weekend?

The fish at Wickiup are amazing- 16 inchers and then some! We camped in the woods one night between Wickiup and Crane Prairie- the mosquitos were BRUTAL!

I was at Wickiup Fri morning( I posted a thread about it ), the kokes are big, but picky. Wasn't there long enough to tell if the mosquitos were bad, didn't notice any at the boat ramp. I was swarmed by midges and caddis flys out on the water, had to run the boat every now and then to try and clear them out. I Figure it's your choice of qaulity or quantity. Either way it should be nice.

Spent last week at Shelter Cove Resort at Odell's north end. Bring PLENTY of mosquito spray and don't get the cheap stuff (40 deet is good). The mosquitos are everywhere. As for the fishing, only a few guys are getting into a consistent bite. I've fished up there for 10 years and this year the fish are off their usual bite. I've been reading other's feedback about great catches, but I'm not seeing any large catches at the fish cleaning station at Shelter Cove. Trolling is getting smaller fish (8 to 10 inches) and jigging is getting the larger fish (14 inches), but you need to be on the bottom (100 to 120 feet depending on location).
