new car hopes
well the wife and I are looking into a new car well actually we are looking at a Jeep liberty. Or some other small SUV for about twenty thousand We want new and after looking all of them over the Jeep seems to be the best bet it is small and a fair price and still can pass all of Jeeps off road test they say the testing for a jeep it has to be able to take the Rubicon trail one thing my old ford 4x4 could barley do so this will be the week to hit the dealers and see what we come up with we are in no rush so we will shop around and see what we can get. No pressure

Re: new car hopes
Ryan,
I like the looks of the Liberty. However, if you are looking for a small SUV, you might be better off with a Honda CRV or a Toyota RAV4.
I'm not sure how they all compare price-wise, but you may be better off in the long run for dependability and resale value with the Toyota or Honda.

Re: new car hopes
I was over at a relatives house yesterday checking out her new Lexus LX300. Sweeeeeet!
I didn't ask, but I'm sure it was a fair bit more than $20K. It can tow, too.
IMHO, I'm not fond of Chrysler products. Blacktail's got a point about Toyotas and Hondas. Can't go wrong there, but you didn't say if you were towing anything. That would rule out the CRV or RAV4.

Re: new car hopes
While I hate to expose my ignorance, It's something I'm getting used to.
Two questions.
I keep seeing IMHO posted on the board. What does that mean??? Okay, I'm not too intuitive.
Second question. Why can't I catch a summer fish on the Sandy! I saw a guy catch two suckers last Friday and I was jealous. But, they were both natives so thay had to be tossed back.

Re: new car hopes
If you're planning on doing off-roading, don't assume that AWD is going to work for you. I have very recent experience that proved there's nothing so awesome as having the control of 4-hi and 4-lo.
Man! I'm gonna miss my truck!

Re: new car hopes
We're likely going to have a 2001 nissan xterra
for sale. She's in mint condition, 25k miles.
Not sure what we'll replace with, maybe a tundra.
I agree with the toyota or honda idea for quality and resale. 20k for a new small SUV is tough to find for a good one sometimes.

Re: new car hopes
The Liberty is nice and it is more of and off road truck then the Toyota and Honda we are also looking at the Chevy tracker one of the only small SUVs built on a truck frame it is all in Gods hands we will pray and test drive and see what God opens up.

Re: new car hopes
Ryan,
IMHO, i would consider a used 4runner over a Liberty. YOu should be able to get a 98,99,2000, for near that price with a full warranty (toyota certified used vehicle) for nearly that price. The advanteges to doing this are:
1. You won't take the large depreciation hit that new cars have espically Jeeps.
2. A 4 runner is a 200K rig easy where as jeeps tend to crap out near 100k.
3. In 4 years the used Toyota will be worth more than the Jeep.
4. 4 runners are very capabile off road, high low range, and a true 4wd.
5. Plus if you get a TCUV, you can get new car finance rates from Toyota.
Whatever you decide to buy go with a broker, it will save you a ton of hassle. If you want to think a little more seriously about a Toyota, contact Jerry Roselle at broadway toyota. He is there Fleet/internet manager and will treat you better than most any guy areound. Plus he will give you a very good deal.

Re: new car hopes
Silver Hilton, I've always used IMHO with regards to it being "humble" so don't feel like a loner.
Bouncing around on the board you might ascertain it might stand for "harried" with regards to snapshots of Jennies' normal day.
Geek??? Hmm, that could be tough, I think his lexicographer skills are beyond mine.....
