Default torsion axles

I am replacing my old rusty leaf spring axles with new galvanized torsion axles. But as I got ready to mount up the new axles this evening I realized I didn't know for sure about how they should be laid out. Should both axles have the trailing arm toward the rear of the trailer? That seems most logical to me, but I am just a little unsure! Can someone here let me know how theirs is set up?

Thanks in advance.

Both pointing back like the old VW Bugs,VW buses and motorcycles. The advantages are many. The main reason is as the axle moves up, it also moves back away from the obstruction.

Yup. Arms to the back.

Don't forget to center the axle from the spindles and not the axel(s) too. Otherwise it will throw the trailer's balance off and you will end up with to much (or to little) weight on the tongue.

Thanks guys! All mounted up and ready to bleed the brakes this evening! Should be a big improvement - at least I am hoping so.

You'll love it. torsion axles make huge difference, kind of like riding a cadilac vs honda

Where did you pick up your axles? I've been thinking about switching to torsions.

The last time I was in Six Robblees I saw stacks and stacks of them.

I got mine from Tuftrailers in Linden WA. But I think they bought them from 6Roblees maybe? Anyway, they are all done, and ride great. It is a real pleasure not hearing the squeaky leaf springs too! With the upgrade to 15" galvanized wheels the trailer looks alot better too. And looks count right?
