Default Mirror Lake (Mt Hood Natl Forest)

The lady loves to go hiking and I'm thinking of heading up there tomorrow. I have never fished it and was wondering if any other Ifishers have had any experience here and is it worth bringing a pack rod with me...a la hike/fish day. PM's will work too. Thanksy. Have a safe 4th and a thank you to those keeping us safe throughout the world.

The only thing I know about it is that the hike is easy so it won't burden you bringing a little tackle.... I say fish it, then give us a report.

I was there last Summer and spotted lots of surface action. There's a large population of crawfish and also mosquitos. Didn't have a rod with me that day, but I don't think you'd go wrong by taking an ultralight trout setup or a fly rod with you.

yeah, if you want a spot you have to get to the trailhead before 7 or 8 in the morning. i fished there last week and caught quite a bit of brooks and cutts. all of the brooks i was catching were around 8 or 9 inches but very skinny. still fun to catch them on a fly though. waders would help out a lot since there isnt much area to get a back cast and the shore area is only about two or three feet deep until you get out about 40 feet. I would imagine there are some nice holdovers in the center of the lake.
