Default Which battery

I followed the advise from you fellas and bought a 20 foot open sled(previous thread).....Now it has a 2005 merc 200hp two-stroke swb, and a pump...I have no manual...........the battery looks a little old and not marine grade......What battery should this use? Should i have two batteries? I haven't found any info on the net and shops are closed at this moment........please advise

Always good to have 2 batteries, one for back up, and a select switch. Any of the AGM batteries will be good. I use the Optima brand, many others use the Trojan brand. Hope that helps.

when you say marine, dont confuse starter with deep cycle. You want a starter battery. Two is a good idea. If your side drifting you can use up the battery and not get much of a recharge. Put a volt meter on it, when your done each trip. A trickle charge is good medicine. If you jolt it, with 15amp it wakes up the battery. It knocks off the build up on the plates. Dont need to do that everytime.
