Default Wallowa lake report

We took the kids over to the lake for some fun in the sun and fished last friday and saturday evenings for trout. Hit the area where the river comes in for about two hours each night and the two girls and myself caught over twenty trout each night. The best bait was Pautzkies balls o fire eggs. The ten or so we kept made for good dinners. One night while at the cleaning station a gentleman from Redmond showed up with a 6.5 lb rainbow he caught trolling a fly behind his raft along the shoreline. There are still some big fish in that lake, as I lost one that was respectable, also but not 6.5 lbs worth.

Just returned Thursday from there. Four days of fishing with grandaughters, son, and brother-in-law. 14 large Kokanee kept and many lost. The Average was 2 lbs 7oz with the largest at 3lbs 8oz. Fishing was slow because of the shrimp hatch.

We just got back last night. Fished on friday. The kokes are scattered and mostly deep. As mentioned, the shrimp hatch and heat has slowed down the bite.

We were able to manage a 12" and 21".

Fished it last weekend (June 26-28). Best koke was this 4 lb 5 oz, 23" long pictured here. My friend's daughter also picked up a 5 lb rainbow. Had a great time.
