Dad came up with the Weldcraft on Sunday and we took the kids out for a koke, bass, and swimming trip. We hit the water a little after eight and headed up by the Island. Started trolling just before the island. I got a new Anglers Touch innerflow kokanee rod for fathers day and just got the special order Pfleuger Trion Round baitcasting reel for it on friday (couldn't find any in any store). The new rod went down on the rigger to 40' with a 5.5" slingblade in purple with black diamonds followed by a pink apex. Within about 5 minutes fish-on, and in came a nice fat 12" kokanee. We continued up the arm and caught a second koke on the new rod before the kids saw a deep cove and decided it was time to swim and fish for bass.
We pulled up the koke gear and headed in pitching grubs up along the bank. We caught around 40 bass and kept 9 for dinner (my wife only eats white meat fish

).
After a couple hours of swimming and bass fishing we headed out and reset for kokes. I put apexes on a couple more rods and we continued up through the bend below perry south. Not much happened up there in our "honey hole" so we continued back down the arm and pretty much everytime we hit a ball of kokes we had a hook-up. I only lost one fish on my new rod and at the end of the day we headed back with 8 kokes in the box seven caught on a pink apex and one on a green glow wedding ring. The kids had fun I had fun and the new rod and reel worked flawlessly.
One minor side note that was quite interesting is that I actually caught a black bird while bass fishing. My son tried to take pictures but the camera got the best of him. The bird flew through line as I casted and looped it aroud his wing and body. I reeled him in and had to take a couple minutes untangling a very angry bird. He was able to fly off after giving us a few minutes of entertainment

.
Tight lines,
